(3) Measure the backlash of the ballscrew and ballscrew nut:
(a) Move the handles of the lever and clamp tool together until the dial indicator stops.
NOTE: This will apply a load to the ballscrew nut, and move it forward on the ballscrew.
(b) Use the dial indicator to measure the movement of the ballscrew nut.
NOTE: The movement of the ballscrew nut is the backlash.
(c) Do these steps a total of five times to make sure the movement of the dial indicator is
repeatable.

(4) If the backlash is more than 0.0073 inch (0.185 millimeter), then replace the ballscrew assembly.

OUTBOARD FLAP TRANSMISSIONS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A. This procedure has these tasks:
(1) A removal of the outboard transmission for the outboard flap
(2) An installation of the outboard transmission for the outboard flap
(3) A removal of the inboard transmission for the outboard flap
(4) An installation of the inboard transmission for the outboard flap.

(a) Remove the screws [11] that attach the coupling sleeve [8] to the splined coupling [10] on
the torque tube [9].
(b) Move the coupling sleeve [8] off the splined coupling [10].
