NOTE: Wait a minimum of 2 minutes before you remove the hydraulic power. The flaps can
move a small distance during this time.

(4) Remove system B hydraulic power, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B Power Removal,
TASK 29-11-00-860-805.

(5) Remove the lower pan [10] from the flap control unit [1]:
(a) Remove the screws [11] and washers [21] that attach the lower pan [10] to the flap control
unit [1].
(b) Remove the lower pan [10] from the flap control unit [1].
G. Adjustment of the Trailing Edge Flap Control Valve

(1) Do a check of the adjustment of the flap control valve assembly [4]:
NOTE: This will make sure the flap power drive unit [20] and the flap control unit [1] moved to
the correct position when you retracted the flaps.
(a) Make sure you can easily install the rig pin, STD-4592 [14] through the cam follower arm
[13] and the valve cam [12].
(b) Make sure the black rig mark on the cable drum [18] for the flap power drive unit [20]
extends past the cable guard [19] a minimum of 0.03 inch on each side.

(2) If you cannot easily install the rig pin, STD-4592 [14], or if the flap power drive unit [20] is not in
the correct position, then adjust the flap control valve assembly [4]:
(a) Loosen the nut [16] and nut [17] on the adjustable sleeve [9].
(b) Turn the adjustable sleeve [9] to change the position of the rod end [8].
NOTE: This will change the alignment of the valve slide [15] and the index surface [3] on
the flap control valve assembly [4].
(c) Tighten the nut [16] and nut [17] on the adjustable sleeve [9].
NOTE: Make sure the distance between the center of the rod end [8] and the nut [17] is
less than 0.94 inch. Make sure the distance between the nut [16] and the hex on
the adjustable sleeve [9] is less than 0.19 inch.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE HYDRAULIC POWER IS REMOVED BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT THE
ROD END FROM THE SUMMING LEVER. IF YOU DISCONNECT THE ROD END
WITH HYDRAULIC POWER ON YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FLAP
CONTROL UNIT.
(d) If it is necessary, disconnect the rod end [8] from the summing lever [2]:
NOTE: It is necessary to disconnect the rod end [8] if you cannot adjust the flap control
valve assembly [4] while the adjustable sleeve [9] is in the limits.
1) Remove the nut [7], washer [6] and bolt [5] that attach the rod end [8] to the summing
lever [2].
2) Change the position of the adjustable sleeve [9].

3) Install the bolt [5], washer [6] and nut [7] to attach the rod end [8] to the summing lever
[2].
(e) Tighten the nut [16] and the nut [17].
(f) Install lockwire on the nut [16], nut [17] and the adjustable sleeve [9].

(3) Remove the rig pin, STD-4592 [14] from the cam follower arm [13] and the valve cam [12].

WARNING: KEEP PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT CLEAR OF THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES, THE
THRUST REVERSERS, AND THE LANDING GEAR. THESE COMPONENTS CAN MOVE
SUDDENLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO
PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(4) Supply system B hydraulic power, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B Pressurization,
TASK 29-11-00-860-801.

(5) Extend and retract the trailing edge flaps five times. To extend and retract the flaps, do this task:

(6) Remove system B hydraulic power, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B Power Removal,
TASK 29-11-00-860-805.

(7) Do a check of the adjustment of the flap control valve assembly [4] again:
(a) Make sure the black rig mark on the cable drum [18] for the flap power drive unit [20]

(8) If you cannot easily install the rig pin, STD-4592 [14], or if the flap power drive unit [20] is not in
the correct position, then adjust the trailing edge flap control valve assembly [4] again.
H. Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition
