(a) Remove the bolts [34] that attach the leading edge skin panel [33].
(b) Remove the leading edge skin panel [33] from the main flap [2].

(5) Remove the nut [7], washer [6], washer [5] and bolt [4] that attach the failsafe link [15] to the
carriage assembly [1].
(a) Move the failsafe link [15] away from the carriage assembly [1].

(6) Remove the carriage assembly [1] from the main flap [2]:
(a) Remove the nut [52], washer [51], bushing [50], washer [49] and bolt [48] that attach the aft
link assembly [35] to the aft link fitting assembly [47].
(b) Remove the nut [36] and washer [37] that attach the aft link assembly [35] to the main flap
[2].
(c) Remove the aft link assembly [35] from the aft link fitting assembly [47] and the main flap
[2].
(d) Remove the nut [30] and washer [31] that attach the forward end of the carriage
assembly [1] to the main flap [2].
(e) Move the carriage assembly [1] forward, away from the main flap [2].

(7) If it is necessary, remove the nut [42], washer [43] and washer [44] that attach the failsafe link [15]
to the main flap [2].
SUBTASK 27-51-23-020-007
(8) If it is necessary, remove the aft link fitting assembly [47] from the carriage assembly [1]:
(a) Remove the nuts [41], washers [40] and bolts [39] that attach the aft link fitting assembly [47]
to the carriage assembly [1].
(b) Measure and record the thickness of the shims [46].
