(d) Apply a layer of grease, D00633 to the shank and threads of the bolts [17].
(e) Install the bolts [17], washers [18], washers [19] and nuts [20] to attach the ballscrew
assembly [6] to the yoke [16].
(f) Make sure the ballscrew assembly [6] is installed correctly in the yoke [16]:
1) Turn the transmission assembly [4] until the nut [29] on the U-joint [26] is up.
2) Turn the ballscrew nut [28] until the upstop is 1808 from the upstop [27] on the yoke [16].
3) If the ball returns [10] on the ballscrew nut [28] are not in the correct position, then
change the position of the ballscrew assembly [6]:
NOTE: On transmission No. 3, make sure the ball returns [10] are on the outboard
side. On transmission No. 6, make sure the ball returns [10] are on the inboard
side.
a) Remove the nuts [20], washers [19], washers [18] and bolts [17] that attach the
ballscrew assembly [6] to the yoke [16].
b) Turn the ballscrew assembly [6] 1808 in the yoke [16].
c) Install the bolts [17], washers [18], washers [19] and nuts [20].
(g) Tighten the nuts [20].

(3) Connect the ballscrew assembly [6] with the gimbal [14] to the carriage [8]:
(a) Move the gimbal [14] to the downstop on the ballscrew assembly [6].
NOTE: On transmission No. 3, make sure the ball returns [10] on the ballscrew nut [28]
are on the outboard side. On transmission No. 6, make sure the ball returns [10]
on the ballscrew nut [28] are on the inboard side.
(b) Move the carriage [8] to align with the gimbal [14].

(c) Apply grease, D00633 to the inside and outside surfaces of the carriage bushing [9] and
carriage bushing [13].

(d) Install the carriage bushing [9] and carriage bushing [13] to attach the gimbal [14] to the
carriage [8].
(e) Install the bolts [7], washers [12] and nuts [11] that attach the gimbal bushing [9] and gimbal
bushing [13] to the carriage [14].

(f) Tighten the nuts [11] to 65-75 pound-inches (7.4-8.4 newton-meters) more than the run-on
torque.

(4) Connect the torque tubes [1] to the transmission assembly [4]:
(a) Apply grease, D00633 to the coupling sleeves [2].
(b) Put the splined couplings [5] in the coupling sleeves [2].
(c) Install the screws [3] to attach the torque tubes [1] to the transmission assembly [4].
(d) Install lockwire on the screws [3].

(5) Apply grease, D00633 to the end of the plunger on the torque trip indicator [25] and push it down
around the sides of the plunger.
