TRAILING EDGE FLAP CONTROL VALVE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A. This procedure has these tasks:
(1) A removal of the trailing edge flap control valve
(2) An installation of the trailing edge flap control valve
(3) A removal of the flap load limiter solenoid valve
(4) An installation of the flap load limiter solenoid valve.
B. The trailing edge flap control valve is installed on the flap control unit in the main wheel well.

C. Prepare for the Removal

(1) If the trailing edge flaps are not in the retracted position, do this task: Retract the Trailing Edge
Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-804.

(2) Remove the pressure from the system B hydraulic reservoir. To remove the pressure, do this
task: Hydraulic Reservoirs Depressurization, TASK 29-11-01-860-802 or Hydraulic
Reservoirs Depressurization, TASK 29-09-00-860-802.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THE DOWNLOCK PINS ARE INSTALLED ON ALL THE LANDING GEAR.
WITHOUT THE DOWNLOCK PINS, THE LANDING GEAR CAN RETRACT AND CAUSE
INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(3) If the downlock pins are not installed in the nose and main landing gear, do this task: Landing
Gear Downlock Pins Installation, TASK 32-00-01-480-801.
D. Trailing Edge Flap Control Valve Removal

(1) Open this circuit breaker and install safety tag:

(2) Remove the lower pan [11] from the flap control unit [1]:
(a) Remove the screws [10] and washers [23] that attach the lower pan [11] to the flap control
unit [1].
(b) Remove the lower pan [11] from the flap control unit [1].

(3) Install the rig pin [14] through the cam follower arm [13] and the valve cam [12]:

(4) Remove the flap control valve assembly [6]:
(a) Disconnect the four hydraulic lines [2] from the flap control valve assembly [6].
1) Install caps on the hydraulic lines [2].
2) Install plugs in the hydraulic ports of the flap control valve assembly [6].
(b) Disconnect the electrical connector [3] from the flap control valve assembly [6].
(c) Disconnect the flap control valve assembly [6] from the cam follower arm [13]:
1) Remove the plug [9] from the forward side of the flap control unit [1].
2) Remove the bolt [15], washers [16], bushings [17] and nut [18] that attach the flap
control valve assembly [6] to the cam follower arm [13].
(d) Remove the bolts [7] and washers [8] that attach the flap control valve assembly [6] to the
flap control unit [1].
(e) Remove the flap control valve assembly [6] from the flap control unit [1].

(5) If you will install a new flap control valve assembly [6], remove the unions [5] and packings [4].
