(b) Apply a layer of compound, C00913 to the shank and threads of the screws [24].
(c) Install the screws [24] to attach the lower pan [25].

4. Flap Power Drive Unit Manual Drive Shearout Replacement
(Figure 401)
A. General
(1) The manual drive input on the power drive unit [21] has a shearout feature. The shearout is
designed to break if too much torque is applied to the manual drive.

(2) Remove system B hydraulic power, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B Power Removal,
TASK 29-11-00-860-805.
H. Flap Power Drive Unit Manual Drive Shearout Replacement
SUBTASK 27-51-51-010-002
(1) Remove the manual drive cover [5] from the power drive unit [21]:
(a) Remove the bolts [29] and washers [28] that attach the manual drive cover [5].
(b) Remove the manual drive cover [5] from the power drive unit [21].

(2) Remove the shearout [31] from the power drive unit [21]:
(a) Install a screw, STD-1281 in the threaded part of the shearout [31].
(b) Pull on the screw, STD-1281 to remove the shearout [31] with the retainer [32] from the
power drive unit [21].
NOTE: It will take approximately 30 pounds (130 newtons) of force to remove the
shearout [31].

(3) Install a new shearout [31] in the power drive unit [21]:
(a) Put a new retainer [32] on the shearout [31].
(b) Apply grease, D00633 to the splines on the shearout [31].
(c) Use a 3/8-inch square drive to push the shearout [31] in the power drive unit [21] until you
feel the retainer [32] engage.

(4) Use the manual drive to extend and retract the trailing edge flaps. To extend and retract the
flaps, do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Manual Operation, TASK 27-51-00-980-801.

(5) Install the manual drive cover [5] on the power drive unit [21]:
(a) Apply fluid, D00467 to the packing [30] on the manual drive cover [5].
