OUTBOARD AFT FLAP ACTUATING MECHANISM - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A. This procedure has these tasks:
(1) A removal of the aft flap actuating mechanisms for the outboard flaps
(2) An installation of the aft flap actuating mechanisms for the outboard flaps.
B. The aft flap actuating mechanisms includes the bellcranks, the forward pushrod and the aft pushrod.

2. Outboard Aft Flap Actuating Mechanism Removal
(Figure 401)
A. General
(1) This task is applicable to the aft flap actuating mechanism on the inboard flap support and the
outboard flap support on the outboard flap.

D. Prepare for the Removal
SUBTASK 27-51-24-860-001
(1) Extend the trailing edge flaps to the 40-unit position. To extend them, do this task: Extend the
Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-803.

(2) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Deactivation, TASK 27-51-00-040-801.

(3) Remove the applicable fairing from the outboard flap:
(a) Do this task: Outboard Flap Outboard Support Aft Fairing Removal,
TASK 27-51-28-000-802.
(b) Do this task: Outboard Flap Inboard Support Aft Fairing Removal,
TASK 27-51-28-000-804.
E. Outboard Aft Flap Actuating Mechanism Removal
SUBTASK 27-51-24-020-001
(1) Remove the nut [23], washer [22], washer [20], bolt [19] and bushing [21] that attach the aft rod
assembly [2] to the aft flap [1].
NOTE: When you disconnect the aft rod assembly [2] from the aft flap [1], the aft flap [1] can
move a small distance.

(2) Remove the nut [14], washer [13], washer [11], bolt [10] and bushing [12] that attach the forward
rod assembly [16] to the drive rod attach fitting [9].

(3) Remove the nuts [7], washers [6], bushings [5], washers [4] and bolts [3] that attach the aft rod
assembly [2] and the forward rod assembly [16] to the bellcrank assembly [17].

(4) Remove the bellcrank assembly [17] from the flap carriage [18]:
(a) Remove the nuts [26] and washers [27] from the bolts [28] that attach the rubcap [25] to the
bellcrank assembly [17].
(b) Remove the nut [32], washer [31], washer [30] and bolt [29] that attach the bellcrank
assembly [17] to the flap carriage [18].
(c) Measure and record the distance between the center of the bolt hole in the adjustment
fitting [36] and the bellcrank assembly [17].
NOTE: This distance is referred to as Dimension A.
