FLAP POSITION TRANSMITTER - ADJUSTMENT/TEST
1. General
A. This procedure has a task to adjust the trailing edge flap position transmitters.
B. The flap position transmitters are installed on the outboard end of transmissions No. 1 and 8.
C. The flap position transmitters include additional syncros that are used in the autopilot and the stall
management systems.
TASK 27-58-01-820-801
2. Flap Position Transmitter Adjustment
(Figure 501)
A. General
(1) This task uses the Flap/Slat Electronics Unit (FSEU) to adjust the flap position transmitters.
(2) This task should only be used in the situation where the adjustment of a flap position transmitter
has been changed during the installation process.
(a) This adjustment is not as accurate as the installation process of a new flap position
transmitter due to these reasons:
1) The reliance on the ability of the trailing edge flap drive system to accurately drive the
flaps to the 15-unit position.
2) The reliance on the tolerances of the particular flap position transmitter at the 15-unit
position.
3) The reliance on the ability of the FSEU to read the flap position transmitter at the 15-unit
position.
(b) The flap position transmitter is capable of being used on the left and right wings. Because
of this, it is necessary to be careful not to set the position transmitter at the incorrect 15-unit
position. If the flap position transmitter is set at the incorrect position for the wing it is on, it
will appear to operate backward.
