Prepare for the Removal

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THE GROUND LOCK PINS ARE INSTALLED ON ALL THE LANDING
_______ GEAR. WITHOUT THE GROUND LOCK PINS, THE LANDING GEAR COULD RETRACT AND CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (1)  
If the ground lock pins are not installed in the nose and the main landing gear, install the ground lock pins (AMM 32-00-01/201).

Procedure


 S 024-022
 (1)  
Remove the uplock crank

 (a)  
Remove the crank attachment bolt (23).

 (b)  
Remove the bolt (2) that hold the crank collar (3).

 (c)  
Remove the nut from the uplock support shaft (5).

 (d)  
Remove the shaft (5).

 (e)  
Get the crank collar (3) when the shaft comes out.


 NOTE: Tag the position, number, and dimension of the
____ shims (6) installed below the shaft head and between the uplock crank (4) and the uplock support fitting (8) for the assembly.
 (f) Remove the uplock crank (4) from the airplane.

 (1)
If the ground lock pins are not installed in the nose and the main landing gear, install the ground lock pins (AMM 32-00-01/201).

Main Landing Gear Uplock Crank Installation


 S 414-059
 (1)  
Do the following steps:

 (a)  
Put the crank (4) in its position in the reaction link (24).

 (b)  
Install the crank attachment bolt (23) with the head to the antirotation lug on the reaction link.

 (c)  
Install the washer and the nut on the crank attachment bolt (23).

 (d)  
Tighten the self-locking nut and measure the torque it takes to run it on the threads of the crank attachment bolt (23).


 NOTE: The run-on torque is between 90 - 800 inch-pounds
____ (10.2 - 90.4 newton-meters).
 (e)  Add 50 - 100 pound-inches (5.6 - 11.3 newton-meters) to the measured torque in the step above and tighten the nut for the final torque.
 WARNING: USE NITRILE GLOVES FOR THE SKIN PROTECTION AGAINST
_______ BMS 3-27 (MASTINOX 6856K). IF THE MASTINOX GETS ON YOUR SKIN, IMMEDIATELY REMOVE IT WITH WATER. IF THIS MATERIAL GETS IN YOUR EYES, IMMEDIATELY FLUSH YOUR EYES WITH WATER AND GET MEDICAL AID. THIS MATERIAL CONTAINS VERY POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE AGENTS WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
 CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY MASTINOX BETWEEN THE UPLOCK SUPPORT SHAFT AND
_______ THE SUPPORT FRAME, AND BETWEEN THE UPLOCK SUPPORT SHAFT AND THE UPLOCK SUPPORT FITTING. LUBRICATE THESE SECTIONS OF THE UPLOCK SUPPORT SHAFT AND MAKE SURE THE SHAFT IS FREE TO TURN.
 (f)  Apply Mastinox 6856K to the uplock support shaft immediately before the installation (AMM 12-21-11/301).

 (g)  Install the uplock support shaft (5) through the support frame (7).
 NOTE:____ Install the shim with the inner diameter chamfer against the fillet radius at the bottom of the support shaft head. Install the position, number, and dimension of the shims as tagged on the disassembly. If you install the new shims, assemble three thick (0.06 inch or 1.52 millimeter) shims (6) between the uplock crank (4) and the support frame (7).
 (h) (i) (j) (k) (l) (m) (n)  Move the shaft through the uplock crank (4).Put the crank collar (3) on the shaft.Put the narrow end of the shaft (5) through the support fitting (8).Make sure the locking slot on the collar (3) and the locking rib on the uplock crank (4) are fully engaged.Install the collar bolt (2) through the crank collar (3) and the shaft (5).Put the bolt from the side with the counter bore.Do a check on the clearance between the shims (6), and the support frame (7) on each side of the support frame (7). 1) Add the clearance that you get on each side of the support frame (7).
