Disconnect the uplock hook (15) from the uplock crank (4).
(a)
Remove the cotter pin, nut, and the washer from the hook attachment bolt (13).
(b)
Remove the hook attachment bolt (13) that holds the uplock hook (15) to the uplock crank (4).
(c)
Remove the uplock hook (15) from the airplane.

5. Main Landing Gear Uplock Hook Installation (Fig./401)

A. General
(1)
This procedure supplies instructions to install the uplock hook.
B.
Prepare for the Installation

WARNING: MAKE SURE THE GROUND LOCK PINS ARE INSTALLED ON ALL THE LANDING
_______ GEAR. WITHOUT THE GROUND LOCK PINS, THE LANDING GEAR COULD RETRACT AND CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1)
If the ground lock pins are not installed in the nose and the main landing gear, install the ground lock pins (AMM 32-00-01/201).

Main Landing Gear Uplock Hook Installation

(1)
Connect the uplock hook (15) to the uplock crank (4):
(a)
Put the uplock hook (15) in its position on the uplock crank (4).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE HOOK ATTACHMENT BOLT (13) IS INSTALLED
_______ FROM THE FORWARD SIDE. INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE BOLT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FRAME LUG WHEN THE LANDING GEAR EXTENDS OR RETRACTS.
(b)
From the forward side, put the hook attachment bolt (13) though the uplock crank (4) and the uplock hook (15).
(c)
Install the washer, and the nut on the hook attachment bolt (13).
(d)
Tighten the nut to 500 inch-pounds (56.5 newton-meters).
(e)
Install the pin in the hook attachment bolt (13). If it is necessary, loosen the nut to the nearest castellation to align the hole for the pin.

Connect the uplock hook (15) to the stop link (20).
(a)
From the aft side, put the bolt (21) through the stop link (20), and the uplock hook (15).
(b)
Install the washer, and the nut on the bolt (21).
(c)
Tighten the nut to the approved torque.

(d) Install the pin in the bolt (21). If it is necessary, loosen the nut to the nearest castellation to align the hole for the pin.

Connect the uplock spring (14):
(a)
Put the spacers (18) in its position for installation of the upper spring shaft (19).
(b)
Put the upper spring shaft (22) through the spacers (18), stop link (20), and the uplock hook (15).
(c)
Install the ends of the uplock springs (14) on the lower spring shaft (22).
(d)
Install the spring pins (16) to hold the uplock springs (14) to the upper spring shaft (19).
(e)
Install the lockwire through the spring pins (16) and lock using double-twist method.

Install the mounting bracket for the uplock sensor on the uplock hook.
