Remove the ground lock from the lock brace assembly of the nose landing gear (Ref 32-00-01/201).

NOTE: This will release the hydraulic pressure from the lock

Release the lock link assembly.
(a)
Put a wood strip (of correct length and sufficient strength) between the top of the attachment lug for the lower drag brace (on the shock strut) and the bottom of the arm for the lock brace assembly.
NOTE: Put the top of the strip as far aft on the arm as

possible.
NOTE: The forward end of the lock brace arm is lower than
____ the aft end. When you hit the top of the wood strip forward, the strip will lift the hinge of the lock brace assembly to an overcenter position and release the assembly.
(b) Hit the top of the wood strip forward to release the lock brace assembly.

(4) Put cloth pads around the inner cylinder below the gland nut (8).
NOTE:____Do this to prevent damage to the inner cylinder. If the gland nut moves down the inner cylinder, the sharp edges of the gland nut will cause damage to the inner cylinder.

CAUTION: YOU MUST IMMEDIATELY CLEAN HYDRAULIC FLUID FROM THE TIRES
_______ IF YOU GET HYDRAULIC FLUID ON THEM. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, YOU CAN CAUSE DETERIORATION TO THE TIRES.
(5) Put a drip pan below the nose gear to catch hydraulic fluid when you remove the gland nut.

WARNING: YOU MUST FULLY DEFLATE THE SHOCK STRUT BEFORE YOU REMOVE
_______ THE GLAND NUT. THE REMAINING INTERNAL PRESSURE CAN BLOW THE GLAND NUT OUT IF YOU DO NOT FULLY DEFLATE THE SHOCK STRUT FIRST. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Remove the gland nut lock (18) from the aft side of the shock strut.

Use the pin spanner adapter assembly to loosen the gland nut.
NOTE: Move the gland nut to the bottom of the inner cylinder after

you loosen it.
