Prepare for the Installation of the Nose Landing Gear

(1) Examine the distance between the trunnion bearings of the nose landing gear in the wheel well structure (AMM 32-21-51/401).

_______ (MASTINOX 6856K). IF MASTINOX GETS ON YOUR SKIN, IMMEDIATELY REMOVE IT WITH WATER. IF THIS MATERIAL GETS IN YOUR EYES, IMMEDIATELY FLUSH YOUR EYES WITH WATER AND GET MEDICAL AID. THIS MATERIAL CONTAINS VERY POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE AGENTS WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS.
CAUTION: REMOVE UNWANTED MASTINOX FROM SURFACES WHICH WILL BE
_______ LUBRICATED. IF YOU APPLY MASTINOX TO JOINTS THAT TURN, FAILURE OF THE LANDING GEAR TO EXTEND OR RETRACT COULD OCCUR.

Make sure the trunnion pins (20) are not fully inserted in their trunnions (4 and 16), but must not come out more on the outboard edge of the trunnion on the gear.
(3)
Install the oleo lock assembly for the nose landing gear.

Make a reference line mark through the center of each lockpin hole of the trunnion pin to the inboard end of each trunnion pin (20).

Set the nose landing gear in the vertical position for installation to be lifted on jacks and to put in the trunnion pins.

F. Procedure to Install the Nose Landing Gear
S 434-083
(1) Hold and lift the gear with an axle jack to install the trunnion pins (20) into their spherical bearings (13) on each side of the nose wheel well.
NOTE: It is important for the trunnion axis of the gear to align
____ with the spherical bearings on each side of the nose wheel well while you lift the gear on axle jack.

Lift the gear on jacks to the correct height.

Lightly hit the trunnion pin (20) in place in each of the
trunnion (16) and the spherical bearing (13).
NOTE: It is important for the lockpin hole in the trunnion pin to
____ align with the mating hole in the trunnion when you install the trunnion pin.

Clean the trunnion pin lockpins (15) with solvent.

Apply a corrosion preventive compound to each of the lockpin (15) (AMM 12-21-21/301).

Install the lockpin (15) on the two sides of the left and the right trunnion pins.
