NOTE:____ You can not adjust the lock
mechanism if it is installed on
the airplane. It is necessary

adjust it (AMM 32-33-51/401).

NOSE LANDING GEAR EXTENSION AND RETRACTION - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. General
_______
A. You can lift the airplane to examine the nose landing gear. Make sure you install the lock assemblies (AMM 32-00-01) in the main landing gear.
B. Use the airplane system for a straight retraction test after the replacement of hydraulic components. The gear operating time and hydraulic pressure will be near normal when the hydraulic system is used.

2. Nose Landing Gear Extension and Retraction Examination Preparation

A. Procedure

(1)
Do a static grounding on the airplane (AMM 20-40-11/201).

Lift the airplane for the retraction test of the nose landing gear (AMM 07-11-11/201).

WARNING: FAILURE TO OPEN THE CIRCUIT BREAKERS WILL CAUSE FLUID TO
_______ TRANSFER FROM THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM B TO HYDRAULIC SYSTEM A. THIS WILL CAUSE THE HYDRAULIC FLUID LEAKAGE AND INJURY TO PERSONS.

Open the LDG GEAR SYS XFR VALVE - PRIM CONT and LDG GEAR SYS XFR VALVE - ALT CONT circuit breakers on P6 panel.
(a)
Connect the electrical power.
(b)
Remove the ground lock assembly from the nose landing gear (AMM 32-00-01/201).
(c)
Examine that nose gear is fully extended and locked, with the control lever in the OFF position.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE THE AIRPLANE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM IF THERE IS LESS
_______ THAN 250 GALLONS (1675 LBS/760 KG) OF FUEL IN THE FUEL TANK.
(d) Pressurize the hydraulic systems A and B (AMM 29-15-00/201).

CAUTION: DO NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WITH THE SHOCK STRUT FULLY
_______ EXTENDED. IT IS BECAUSE IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CENTERING CAMS IN THE SHOCK STRUT.
(e)
Put the flaps in the up position to prevent PTU operation.
(f)
Move the two throttles to a position larger than 17 degrees.

WARNING: REMOVE THE EQUIPMENT AND PERSONS FROM THE NOSE WHEEL WELL
_______ BEFORE YOU OPERATE THE GEAR. MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL THE GROUND LOCK ASSEMBLIES IN THE MAIN LANDING GEAR TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL OPERATION OF THE GEAR. FAILURE TO DO THAT WILL CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT IF THE GEAR RETRACTS.
