MAIN GEAR ISOLATION VALVE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. Two isolation valves are in the wheel well of the left main gear in the modular package for the isolation valves. The valves are same. The subsequent procedure gives the removal and the installation instructions for the two valves.

2. Main Gear Isolation Valve Removal (Fig. 401)_________________________________

Ground Lock Assemblies (AMM 32-00-01)

Procedure

(1)
Make sure that you install the ground lock assemblies for the landing gear in all gears (AMM 32-00-01).
(a)
Decrease the pressure from the hydraulic system A (AMM 29-15-00, MP).
(b)
Remove the handle stop bracket.
(c)
Remove the mounting bolts and the isolation valve.
(d)
Put plugs on the valve ports in the modular package.

3. Main Gear Isolation Valve Installation (Fig. 401)______________________________________
NOTE:____Do not change the Ronson and Whittaker valve handles. If you change the valve handles on the valve, the handle position will not agree with the valve position. The leak of the hydraulic power will occur.

Hydraulic Fluid - BMS 3-11 (AMM 20-30-21)
B.
Procedure

(1) Lubricate the packings lightly with the assembly lubrication or hydraulic fluid.
NOTE: Install the packings on the valve.

(a)
Remove the plug in the modular package for the isolation valves.
(b)
Put the valve in the modular package.
NOTE: Install the mounting bolts.

(c) Pressurize the hydraulic system (AMM 29-15-00, MP).

(d) Open and close the valve.
NOTE: Do a check for the hydraulic leaks.

(e) Turn off the hydraulic power.

4. Operational Check

(1)
Use this operational check only when it is not possible to lift the airplane with the jacks.
(a)
Do a check of the isolation valve operation
(b)
Make sure you install the ground lock assemblies in the main and nose landing gear (AMM 32-00-01).
(c)
Close the isolation valves.
(d)
Pressurize the hydraulic system A.
(e)
Feel the down line hoses from the uplock and downlock actuators for the main landing gear.
(f)
Move the control lever for the landing gear to OFF.
