1. General________
A. This procedure contains two tasks:
(1)
The removal of the release mechanism of the manual extension.
(2)
The installation of the release mechanism of the manual extension.

2. Nose Landing Gear Manual Extension Release Mechanism Removal (Fig. 401)____________________________________________________________
A. Procedure to Remove the Release Mechanism of the Manual Extension
S 014-002
(1)
Remove the cabin floor panel (16) to remove the turnbuckle locking clips.
(a)
Disconnect the cable MNGEA at the turnbuckle (14).

(2)
Disconnect the return spring from the torque tube quadrant (11).

(3)
Remove the cotter pins and disconnect the cable MNGEA from the torque tube quadrant (11).

(4)
Remove the bolt (1) which attach the roller (3) to the torque tube
(4)
and remove the washer (2) and the roller (3).

(5)
Remove the lockwire which attach the bearing retainer (7) to the torque tube (4) and remove the bearing retainer.
(6)
Remove the outboard bearing (10) from the bracket assembly (14).
(7)
Remove the spacer (9) from the torque tube (4).

Pull the torque tube (4) outboard and remove from the bracket assembly (14).

Procedure to Install the Release Mechanism of the Manual Extension
S 424-010
(1)
Put the torque tube (4) through the outboard bearing (10) in the bracket assembly (14) into the inboard flange of the bracket assembly (14).
S 434-011
(2)
Install the spacer (9) above the torque tube (4) through the inboard flange of the bracket assembly (14) until the end of the spacer (9) pushes against the outboard bearing (10).

Install the outboard bearing (10).

(4)
Install the bearing retainer (7) on the torque tube (4) as follows:
(a)
Apply a layer of grease to the threads of the bearing retainer (7).
(b)
Install the bearing retainer on the torque tube. 1) Tighten the bearing retainer to 75 - 125 pound-inch.
(c)
Attach the bearing retainer to the torque tube with the lockwire through the hole in the roller fitting (5).

CAUTION: REMOVE UNWANTED MASTINOX FROM SURFACES WHICH WILL BE
_______ LUBRICATED. IF YOU APPLY MASTINOX TO JOINTS THAT TURN, THE LANDING GEAR COULD FAIL TO EXTEND OR RETRACT.
(5) Install the roller (3), the washer (2), and the bolt (1) in the torque tube (4).
