DISTANCE BETWEEN BUSHING FACES ON SHOCK STRUT INNER CYLINDER.
FOR IN-SERVICE REPAIR, INSTALL SPECIAL SHIM (REF FIG. 801, APPROVED REPAIRS).
PREFERRED OVERHAUL REWORK IS TO RESTORE PART TO DESIGN LIMITS USING NEW BUSHINGS.

NOSE LANDING GEAR TORSION LINKS - APPROVED REPAIR

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains the task to put the axial clearance back to the allowable limit.
B. The intent of this procedure is to repair the torsion links until the next main landing gear overhaul. The recommended repair for these parts is to put them back to the initial limits with the new bushings at the landing gear overhaul.

Remove the torsion link (Ref 32-21-31/401).

Do a check of the parts (Ref 32-21-31/601).
(3)
Make the shims if it is necessary (Fig. 801).

NOTE: As an option, shims can be purchased from Lamcsco West, INC.

SHIM TO HAVE RHR 32 FINISH AND BE FLAT WITHIN 0.002 INCH MATERIAL: 301 CRES FULL HARD PER AMS 5519 OR EQUIVALENT (W = 0.008 INCH MINIMUM)
ADJACENT BUSHING FLANGES MUST BE FLAT WITHIN 0.005 INCH.
IF F IS WITHIN LIMITS, INSTALL THE SHIMS FOR VIEW A-A AS FOLLOWS TO PUT THE AXIAL CLEARANCE

BACK WITHIN THE RECOMMENDED LIMITS.
A. IF C IS NOT LARGER THAN 0.016 INCH,

INSTALL ONE SHIM WASHER AT C OR C ADJACENT TO THINNEST FLANGE.
