Disconnect the electrical conduit(s) from the lock brace.
(h)
Move the lock brace (3) up until you get access to the actuator upper attachment.
(i)
Hold the lock actuator (16).
(j)
Remove the bolt (18).
(k)
Disconnect the actuator from the lock brace.
(l)
Remove the nuts (7) and washers from the spring retainer bolts.
(m)
Remove the springs (1) and (5).
(n)
Put the nuts (7) on the spring retainer bolts.
NOTE: Tighten the bolts with your hand.

(o) Remove the lock strut which has the lock brace (3) and the lock link (6) as a completed assembly.

WARNING: USE NITRILE GLOVES FOR SKIN PROTECTION AGAINST BMS 3-27
_______ (MASTINOX 6856K). IF THE MASTINOX GETS ON YOUR SKIN, REMOVE IT WITH WATER IMMEDIATELY. IF THE MASTINOX GETS IN YOUR EYES, FLUSH YOUR EYES WITH WATER IMMEDIATELY AND GET MEDICAL AID. THIS MATERIAL CONTAINS VERY POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE AGENTS WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
CAUTION: REMOVE THE UNWANTED MASTINOX FROM SURFACES WHERE YOU LUBRICATE.
_______ IF YOU APPLY MASTINOX TO THE JOINTS THAT TURN, FAILURE OF THE LANDING GEAR TO EXTEND OR RETRACT CAN OCCUR.

Clean all components:
(a)
Lubricate all components with grease just before the assembly.
NOTE: Do not include the shaft (19) and the bolt (14).

(b) Apply grease on parts.
NOTE: Apply a layer of Mastinox 6856K to the parts where you
____ do not lubricate with the grease after the installation.
NOTE: Apply a layer of MIL-PRF-23827 or the preferred grease
____ BMS 3-33 where you lubricate with the grease after the installation (AMM 12-20-00/301).
D. Procedure

CAUTION: DO NOT TRY TO ADJUST THE CLEARANCES THAT AFFECT THE DISTANCE
_______ THE LOCK LINK-LOCK BRACE ASSEMBLY CAN MOVE OVER-CENTER WHEN THE ASSEMBLY IS INSTALLED ON THE AIRPLANE. THE ADJUSTMENT TO GET THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF OVER-CENTER TRAVEL MUST BE COMPLETED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE APPLICABLE OVERHAUL MANUAL OR COMPONENT MAINTENANCE MANUAL PROCEDURE.
(1)
Install the lock-link brace assembly (3, 6):
(a)
Apply a thin layer of the corrosion preventive compound, Mastinox 6856K, to the lock brace shaft (19).
(b)
Put the lock brace (3) in the fitting (20).
(c)
Install the shims used in the initial installation.
(d)
Install the shaft (19).
NOTE: If you replace the lock strut or one of the lock strut
____ components, examine the clearance between the lock brace and the fitting (20) with the two ends of the lock strut attached. Keep a clearance of 0.000 to 0.005 inch between the lock brace and the fitting. If it is necessary, install the shims.
