MAIN LANDING GEAR MANUAL EXTENSION LINKAGE . REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains two tasks:
(1)
The removal of the manual extension linkage from the left or the right main landing gear.
(2)
The installation of the manual extension linkage of the left or the right main landing gear.

2. Manual Extension Linkage of the Main Landing Gear Removal (Fig. 401)_________________________________________________________
A. Procedure to Remove the Manual Extension Linkage
S 014-002
(1)
Remove the ceiling panels of the cargo compartment at approximately body station 420.
(a)
Disconnect the cable MLGEA for the manual extension linkage you will remove.
S 034-003
(2)
Disconnect the cable MLGEA from the quadrant assembly (4).
S 024-004
(3)
Disconnect the uplock release rod (6) at the quadrant assembly (4).
S 034-005
(4)
Disconnect the return spring (5) at the quadrant assembly (4).
S 034-006
(5)
Remove the nut (9), and the washer (8).
(a)
Remove the bolt (3) and the spacer (2) which attach the quadrant assembly (4) to the quadrant support (1).
(b)
Keep the spacer (2).
S 034-007
(6) Disconnect the uplock release rod (6) at the camshaft arm (13), and the quadrant assembly (4).

Remove the nut (19), shim (18A), and the washer (18) from the camshaft (10) and remove the camshaft.
(a)
Keep the spacer (16), the cam (15), the sleeves (12 and 14), the bearing (11 and 17), and the camshaft arm (13).

S 624-032
(1)
Apply a corrosion preventive compound to the mating splines of the camshaft (10), the cam (15), and the camshaft arm (13).
S 424-011
(2)
Install the camshaft aft bearing (11) in the aft structure.
S 434-012
(3)
Put the camshaft (10) in through the aft structure and move the sleeve (12) above the camshaft.
