NOTE: THE AIRPLANE MUST BE SUPPORTED ON ITS LANDING GEAR WHEN YOU MEASURE THIS CLEARANCE.
THE SPOILER PANELS ARE NOT FLAT. MEASURE THE CLEARANCE
AT THE NEAREST POINT. THERE IS NO MAXIMUM CLEARANCE
BECAUSE OTHER PARTS OF THE PANEL CAN HAVE A GREATER
CLEARANCE.

Install the spoiler actuator locking tool. S 862-007

Do this task to depressurize hydraulic systems No. 1 and 4: "Hydraulic System Depressurization" (AMM 29-11-00/201).

Do this task: "Supply Electrical Power" (AMM 24-22-00/201).

Put the FLT CONTROL HYD POWER - WING system 4 switch on the pilots' overhead panel, P5, to the SHUTOFF position.

Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a)
P180, DC Power Distribution Panel 1) 180E22, LATERAL CONT VLV SYS 4
WARNING:_______ DO NOT PUT A PART OF YOUR BODY BETWEEN THE SPOILER AND THE WING
UNLESS THE SPOILER ACTUATOR IS LOCKED OR THE HYDRAULIC POWER IS
RELEASED. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.

Open the wing access panel below the spoiler control package (572FB, left wing; 672FB, right wing).

Remove the spoiler control package:
(a)
Remove the bolt (14), washer (17), and nut (16) to disconnect the control package (1) piston rod end from the spoiler.
(b)
Remove the bushings (15) from the spoiler.
(c)
Remove the bolt (18), washers (11), and nut (13) to remove the antirotation plate (12) if it is necessary.
(d)
Put a container below the spoiler control package to catch the hydraulic fluid.
(e)
Disconnect the hydraulic lines (2) from the control package.
(f)
Install the caps on the hydraulic lines and in the ports of the control package.
CAUTION: YOU MUST NOT CHANGE THE LENGTH OF THE INPUT ARM ROD WHILE
_______ IT IS DISCONNECTED. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(g)
Remove the bolt (8), washers (10), and nut (9) to disconnect the control rod (6) from the input arm of the control package.
(h)
Remove the four mounting bolts (3), washers (4), and nuts (5) to remove the control package.
