(5) Move and hold the inflight stop lever down (Detail B, Fig. 501).

(6) Move the speed brake lever aft to the maximum aft position.

(7) Make sure the idler crank touches the inflight stop lever (Fig. 501). (a) Make sure the idler crank stays against the stop.

(8) Make sure you can easily install the rig pin SB-3 through the top and bottom support brackets and the speed brake mechanism (Section A-A, Fig. 501). (a) Adjust the manual input rod if it is necessary to install the rig pin.

(9) Adjust the speed brake cables SBA and SBB (Fig. 502). (a) Move the speed brake lever to the FLIGHT DETENT position. (b) Make sure the inflight stop lever is against the idler crank (Fig. 502). (c) Make sure that you can easily install the rig pins SB-1 (Fig. 502) and SB-3 (Fig. 501). (d) If you installed used cables SBA and SBB, make sure the tension is as shown in Fig. 502. 1) Adjust the tension if it is not in the tolerance. a) Remove the rig pins. b) Remove the locking clips from the turnbuckles in the left wing gear wheel well. c) Tighten the turnbuckles on the cables to get the correct tension (Fig. 502).

d) Make sure you can easily install the rig pins SB-1 and SB-3.
e) If it is necessary, adjust the cable tension until you can install the rig pins and the tension is in the limits.
f) Install the locking clips on the turnbuckles.
(e) If you installed new speed brake cables SBA or SBB, adjust the tension: 1) Remove the rig pins. 2) Tighten the turnbuckles on the cables to two times the
tension shown in Fig. 502. 3) Manually extend and retract the speed brakes through 20 full cycles. 4) Reduce the tension on the cables to the value shown in Fig. 502. 5) Make sure that you can easily install the rig pins SB-1 and SB-3. 6) If it is necessary, adjust the cable tension until you can install the rig pins and the tension is in the tolerance. 7) Install the locking clips on the turnbuckles.
