Use hand force only to push up with a load of 30-40 lbs on the trailing edge surface of the spoiler panel. If the surface moves up and continues to move with the load applied, the thermal relief valve is defective.

Do the Operational Test of the Spoiler Control System

(1)
Do the test of the spoiler control system with the speed brake lever in the DOWN position:
(a)
Put the aileron trim in the neutral position.
(b)
Put the speed brake lever in the DOWN position.
(c)
Turn the aileron control wheel fully clockwise. 1) Make sure the spoilers No. 1 thru 5 are in the fully down
position. 2) Make sure that spoiler No. 8 is up 20 degrees. 3) Make sure that spoilers No. 9 thru 12 are in the fully up
position (45 degrees). 4) Make sure the trailing edges of spoilers No. 9 and 10, and No. 11 and 12 align in the limit of 0.50 inch.(12.7mm) 5) Make sure the trailing edges of spoilers spoilers No. 10 and 11 align in the limit of 1.40 inches.(35.6mm) 6) Make sure the left spoiler position indicator on the EICAS status page is at the lower scale mark.
