_______ PRESSURIZED. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE INTERNAL SEALS.
(d) Turn the piston rod end to adjust the clearance between the
spoiler and the flap. The rod end will move in or out of the
piston.
NOTE: Each 1/4 turn of the piston rod will change the____
clearance by approximately 0.14 inch. If you turn the
piston rod to change the clearance by 0.35 inch or more,
you must do the spoiler system adjustment
(AMM 27-61-00/501).
(e) If you removed the rod end or if you move the rod end out of
the piston 0.50 inch or more, fill the rod end with the
corrosion preventive compound before the adjustment.
NOTE: If the piston rod is not full of the corrosion____
preventive compound, there will be corrosion.
1) Remove the rod end from the spoiler and the control
package.
2) Fill the piston with the corrosion preventive compound.
3) Install the rod end.
(f) Engage the locking device with the piston rod.
(g) Apply a layer of the corrosion preventive compound to the
external threads.
(h) Tighten the checknut hand tight.
(i) Do this task: "Hydraulic System Pressurization"
(AMM 29-11-00/201).
(j) Put the speed brake control lever in the DOWN position to lower
the spoilers until the control packages are fully retracted.
(k) Make sure the clearance between the spoiler and the flap is in
the tolerances shown in Fig. 202. There is no specified
maximum clearance.
1) If the clearance is not in the tolerance, loosen the
checknut and adjust the spoiler again.
