CAUTION: LOOSEN THE CHECKNUT SUFFICIENTLY TO MOVE THE TAB ON THE
_______ LOCKING DEVICE OUT OF THE SLOT IN THE PISTON ROD. YOU CAN BREAK THE TAB FROM THE LOCKING DEVICE.
(c)
Loosen the checknut on the piston rod end.
(d)
Turn the piston rod to adjust the clearance between the spoiler and the flap. The rod end will move in or out of the rod.
NOTE: Each 1/4 turn of the piston rod will change the
____ clearance by approximately 0.14 inch. (3.56mm) If you turn the piston rod to change the clearance by 0.35 inch (8.89mm) or more, you must do the spoiler system adjustment (AMM 27-62-00/501).
(e) Fill the rod end with the corrosion preventive compound before the adjustment if it is necessary:
NOTE: If the piston rod is not full of the corrosion
____
preventive compound there will be corrosion.
1) Fill the rod end if you removed it from the control package. 2) Fill the rod end if you moved the rod end out of the piston
0.50 inch or more. 3) Remove the rod end from the spoiler and the control
package. 4) Fill the piston with the corrosion preventive compound. 5) Install the rod end.
(f)
Engage the locking device with the piston rod.
(g)
Apply a layer of the corrosion preventive compound on the external threads. 1) Tighten the checknut hand tight.

Do this task to pressurize hydraulic system No. 4: "Hydraulic System Pressurization" (AMM 29-11-00/201).
(i)
Put the speed brake lever in the DOWN position to lower all spoilers until the control package piston is fully retracted.
