Automatic Speed Brake Operation
(a)
Provide electrical power (Ref 24-22-00/201).
WARNING: BEFORE PROVIDING HYDRAULIC POWER, CHECK THAT PERSONNEL AND
_______ EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES. TRAILING EDGE FLAP, AILERON, SPOILER, RUDDER AND ELEVATOR CONTROL SURFACES ARE FULLY POWERED. ISOLATE ANY SYSTEM NOT INTENDED FOR OPERATION TO PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONNEL OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(b)
Provide systems 2, 3, and 4 hydraulic power (Ref 29-11-00/201).
(c)
Check that the control wheels are in neutral.
(d)
Place thrust levers 1 and 3 to thrust position of more than 10°.
(e)
Place speed brake control lever to ARM.
(f)
Move thrust levers 1 and 3 to thrust position of less than 6°. Speed brake control lever will automatically move aft to UP position, and all spoilers will extend to 45°.

(g)
Move thrust levers 1 and 3 to thrust position of more than 10°. The speed brake control lever will automatically move forward to DN position, and all spoilers will fully retract.
(h)
Move thrust levers to thrust position of less than 6°.
(i)
Move reverse thrust levers 2 and 4 to deployed position. Speed brake control lever will automatically release from DN detent and will move to UP position. All spoilers will extend to 45°.
(j)
Move reverse thrust levers to stowed position.
(k)
Move speed brake control lever to DN. All spoilers will fully retract.

1. General_______
A. There are two tasks in this procedure. There is a task for the deactivation and a task for the reactivation of the automatic speed brake control system.
(1)
To deactivate the speed brake control system, you must open a circuit breaker.
(2)
To reactivate the speed brake control system you must close a circuit breaker.

WARNING: OPEN THE CIRCUIT BREAKERS TO PREVENT THE SPOILER RETRACTION.
_______ IF YOU USE THE SPEED BRAKE CONTROL LEVER TO LIFT THE SPOILERS, AND IF YOU RELEASE THE PRESSURE IN HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS NO. 1 AND 4, THE SPOILERS WILL RETRACT AUTOMATICALLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
