SPOILER DIFFERENTIAL MECHANISM - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

1. General_______
A. There are five tasks in this procedure. There is a task for the removal, the installation, a functional test, an inspection, and a repair of a spoiler differential mechanism.
(1)
The removal procedure has these parts:
(a)
The installation of the wing landing gear door lock
(b)
The depressurization of the hydraulic systems
(c)
The removal of the differential mechanism.
(2)
The installation of the spoiler differential mechanism has these parts:
(a)
A check of the parts that attach the differential mechanism for worn areas
(b)
The installation of the differential mechanism
(c)
A lubrication of the differential mechanism
(d)
The functional test of the differential mechanism
(e)
The removal of the wing landing gear door locks.
(3)
The functional test of the spoiler differential mechanism has these parts:
(a)
The application of electrical and hydraulic power
(b)
The operation of the spoilers with the control wheel
(c)
A check that the spoilers are aligned
(d)
The operation of the spoilers with the speed brake control lever
(e)
The removal of the electrical and hydraulic power.
(4)
To do the inspection of the spoiler differential mechanism you measure the inner and outer diameters of the input cranks, the levers, and the bolts. You must remove the spoiler differential mechanism to do the inspection. The inspection is usually done before you install a differential mechanism.
(5)
The repair of the spoiler differential mechanism includes the replacement of the shear rivets in the lever.

_______ THE DOOR LOCKS ON THE LANDING GEAR DOORS. THE DOORS CAN CLOSE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE DOOR LOCKS CORRECTLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
