Put the FLT CONTROL HYD POWER - WING system 4 switch on the pilots' overhead panel P5 to the NORM position.

Do this task to pressurize hydraulic systems No. 1 and 4:
 "Hydraulic System Pressurization" (AMM 29-11-00/201).

Move the speed brake control lever to bleed the spoiler control package.

Make sure there are no leaks in the spoiler control package hydraulic connections.

Examine the Spoiler to Flap Clearance


 S 862-024
 WARNING: OPEN THE CIRCUIT BREAKERS TO PREVENT THE SPOILER RETRACTION.
_______ IF YOU USE THE SPEED BRAKE LEVER TO LIFT THE SPOILERS, AND IF YOU RELEASE THE PRESSURE IN SYSTEMS NO. 1 AND 4, THE SPOILERS WILL AUTOMATICALLY RETRACT. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
 (1)  
Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:

 (a)  
P7, Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
 1) 7G6, SPEED BRAKE AUTO CONT


 (2)  
Do this task: "Supply Electrical Power" (AMM 24-22-00/201).

 (3)  
Put the speed brake control lever in the UP position to lift all spoilers.

 NOTE: With the spoilers up, the trailing edge flaps will not touch

 when you retract them.

 WARNING:_______ MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
 FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP
 CONTROL LEVER.  WITH HYDRAULIC POWER REMOVED, THE FLAPS WILL
 MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP

 CONTROL LEVER.
 (4)  Retract the trailing edge flaps fully.
 NOTE: You must fully retract the trailing edge flaps with hydraulic
____ power. Keep the flap control lever in the UP position for 1 minute before you measure the clearance.

Put the speed brake control lever in the DOWN position to lower the spoilers.

 (a)  
Make sure the control package piston is fully retracted.

Turn the aileron control wheel clockwise to make sure spoiler No. 5 is in the full down position.

Measure the clearance between the spoiler No. 5 and the trailing edge flaps (Fig. 201).

 (a)  
Make sure the clearance at the nearest point between the spoiler No. 5 and the trailing edge flaps is 0.055-0.075 inch (1.4-1.9mm).

 (b)  
Extend the trailing edge flaps fully.

 (c)  
Adjust the piston rod end 1 turn (360 degrees) to lower the trailing edge of the spoiler to 0.567 inch(14.4mm). 1) Do these steps if there are not enough threads to make the


 adjustment:
 a) Remove the spoiler control package (1).

 b) Seal the shims (5A) to the rear spar with sealant. c) Install the shims (5A) between the spoiler control package (1) and the structure. d) Install the spoiler control package (1).

Turn the aileron control wheel counterclockwise to make sure that spoiler No. 8 is in the full down position.

Measure the clearance between the spoiler No. 8 and the trailing edge flaps (Fig. 201).

 (a)  
Make sure the clearance for the spoiler No. 8 is the same as for the spoiler No. 5.

 (10) Adjust the clearance between the spoiler and the flap if it is not in the tolerance:
