Install the RVDT Transmitter

Make sure the two indicator windows are in the zero (neutral rig) position.
(a)
Make sure the two lines in the fine adjustment indicator window are aligned (Fig. 401, views A-A and G or views E-E and K).
(b)
If the transmitter is not in the zero position, adjust the transmitter: 1) Push the locking tabs in against the RVDT housing. 2) Turn the input shaft until the line on the fine adjustment
indicator window is in the center of the tolerance band.

CAUTION: EXTEND THE TE FLAPS HYDRAULICALLY TO THE 30-UNIT POSITION
_______ FOR THE RVDT TRANSMITTER REMOVAL AT THE FLAP TRANSMISSION. DO NOT EXTEND THE TE FLAPS BY THE ELECTRICAL MODE. IF YOU USE THE ELECTRICAL MODE, THE FLAPS WILL NOT GO TO THE CORRECT POSITION AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FLAPS WHEN YOU OPERATE THEM IN THE HYDRAULIC MODE.
(2) Do this task to extend the TE flaps to the 30-units position: "Trailing Edge Flap Extension with Hydraulic Power" (AMM 27-51-00/201).

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL THE RVDT TRANSMITTER CORRECTLY IN
_______ THE TRANSMISSION HOUSING. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL IT CORRECTLY, THE TRANSMITTER INPUT SHAFT CAN BE DAMAGED.
(3) Install the RVDT transmitter in the flap transmission.

CAUTION:_______ DO NOT TOUCH THE LOCKING TABS OR THE SPLINED SHAFT DURING
THE RVDT INSTALLATION. THE LOCKING TABS WILL NOT LET THE
INPUT SHAFT TURN DURING THE INSTALLATION. DURING THE
CLAMP-UP, THE LOCKING TABS WILL AUTOMATICALLY RELEASE THE
INPUT SHAFT. IF YOU BEND OR DAMAGE THE LOCKING TABS YOU
CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE RVDT AND YOU CAN CAUSE FLAP SYSTEM
EICAS MESSAGES TO APPEAR.
(a) Engage the splined transmitter shaft with the drive pinion.
CAUTION: PUSH THE RVDT IN COMPLETELY BEFORE YOU ALIGN THE BOLT HOLES OR
_______ CONNECTOR. IF YOU DO NOT PUSH THE RVDT IN COMPLETELY THE LOCKING TABS WILL NOT RELEASE THE SHAFT AND THE SHAFT CAN BE TWISTED/BENT.
(b) Push the transmitter in completely.
NOTE: This will cause the locking tabs to release.

When you install the transmitter, make sure the electrical connectors are in these positions: 1) The electrical connector is in the down position for the
two inboard transmitters. 2) The electrical connector is in the aft position for the left outboard transmitter. 3) The electrical connector is in the 45 degrees forward down position for the right outboard transmitter.
(d)
If it is necessary, you can turn the transmitter |10° to align the mounting holes.

_______ CONNECTOR. IF YOU DO NOT PUSH THE RVDT IN COMPLETELY THE LOCKING TABS WILL NOT RELEASE THE SHAFT AND THE SHAFT CAN BE TWISTED/BENT.

Install two bolts and washers.
(a)
Tighten the bolts.
(5)
Install the electrical connector.

Do this task: "Operational Test of the RVDT Transmitter at the Flap Transmission" (AMM 27-58-01/501).
