 (b)  Make sure the speed brake lever moves to the UP position in approximately 1.5 seconds after it starts.

 Make sure the speed brake lever will not go into the DN position with the reverse thrust levers more than 30° from reverse idle:

 (a)  
Manually move the speed brake lever to a position between the DN and the ARM positions.

 (b)  
Make sure that you cannot put the speed brake lever in the DN position.

 Do a test of the speed brake lever with the No. 4 reverse thrust lever in the idle position:

 (a)  
Move the No. 4 reverse thrust lever to the idle position.

 (b)  
Make sure that the speed brake lever moves automatically to the DN position.

 Do a test of the operation of the speed brake lever with the No. 4 reverse thrust lever off the idle position:

 (a)  
Move the No. 4 reverse thrust lever aft VERY SLOWLY to a position of more than 30°.

 (b)  
Make sure the speed brake lever moves to the UP position.

 (c)  
Move the No. 4 reverse thrust lever to the idle position.

 (d)  
Make sure the speed brake lever stays in the UP position.

Do the Test of the Automatic Speed Brake Actuator in the Go-Around Condition

 (1)  
Make sure the automatic speed brake actuator operates:

 (a)  
Move the No. 1 and 3 thrust levers to a position more than 10 degrees thrust (45.2 degrees Thrust Resolver Angle (TRA)).

 (b)  
Make sure the No. 2 and 4 reverse thrust levers are in the idle position.

 (c)  
Move the speed brake lever to the ARM position.

 (d)  
Move the No. 1 thrust lever to a position of less than 6 degree thrust.

 (e)  
Make sure the speed brake lever moves to the UP position.

Do the test of the go-around functions with the No. 3 thrust lever:

 (a)  
Move the No. 3 thrust lever to a position of more than 10-degree thrust (45.2 degrees Thrust Resolver Angle (TRA)).

Make sure the speed brake lever moves to the DN position automatically.

 (c)  
Move the speed brake lever to the ARM position.

 (d)  
Move the No. 3 thrust lever to a position of less than 6 degree thrust.

 (e)  
Make sure the speed brake lever moves to the UP position.

 (f)  
Move the speed brake lever to the DN position.

Do a Test of the Hydraulic Pressure Inputs to the Proximity Switch Electronics Unit (PSEU) and the Automatic Speed Brake Actuator.

 (1)  
Make sure the FLT CONTROL HYD PRESSURE - WING switches No. 1, 2, 3, 4 on the pilots' overhead panel are in the SHUTOFF position.

 (2)
Do this task: "Depressurize Hydraulic Systems" (AMM 29-11-00/201).
