2) Install the cotter pins.
(g)
Install a washer (6) and a nut (12) on each hinge No. 1. 1) Tighten the nut to 100-200 pound-inches.(11.3-22.6Nm) 2) Loosen the nut to align the subsequent cotter pin hole. 3) Make sure the torque on the nut is not less than 100
pound-inches.(11.3Nm)
4) Install the cotter pin.
(h)
Clean the mating surfaces for the bonding jumper.
(i)
Install the bonding jumpers (11) on the outer hinges with the bolt (8), washer (9), and nut (10).
(j)
Use the milliohmmeter to make sure the resistance of the bonding jumper connection is less then 0.010 ohms.
(k)
Manually turn the spoiler to do a check of the friction in the hinges.
(l)
Attach the control package to the spoiler: 1) Install the bolt (30), washer (28), bushings (27) and nut (29). 2) Hold the bolt head with the spoiler socket adapter assembly. 3) Tighten the nut to 1200-1450 pound-inches(135.6-163.8Nm)
above the run-on torque. 4) Remove the spoiler socket adapter assembly.
(m)
On spoilers No. 4 and 12, connect the adjustment rod (34) for the position indicator to the spoilers: 1) Install the screw (31), washer (32) and nut (33). 2) Tighten the nut to 30-35 pound-inches.(3.39-3.95Nm) 3) Install the cotter pin.
S 094-015
(3)
Remove the spoiler actuator locking tool.
S 094-016

Examine the Spoiler Clearances
S 864-017
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL
_______ SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. AILERONS, RUDDERS, ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SPOILERS, LANDING GEAR AND THRUST REVERSERS CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1)
Do this task to pressurize hydraulic systems No. 2 and 3:
"Hydraulic System Pressurization" (AMM 29-11-00/201).
S 864-018
(2)

(3)
Make sure the clearance between the spoilers and the wing structure is 0.60 to 0.90 inch.(15.24 to 22.86mm)
S 224-020
(4)
Make sure the clearance between the adjacent spoilers is 0.85 to
1.15 inches.(21.59 to 29.21)
S 834-021
(5)
If the clearances are not in the tolerance, adjust the spoiler:
(a)
Remove the bolt (16), washers (17 and 19) and nut (18) from hinge No. 2.
(b)
Add or remove the washers (15) from the left side of the hinge to get the clearance in the tolerance.
(c)
Install the bolt, washers and nut.
(d)
Tighten the nut to 700-900 pound-inches.(79.1-101.7Nm)
(e)
Install the cotter pin.
I.
Do a Check of the Spoiler Seals
S 284-022
(1)
Make sure the seals between the adjacent spoilers and between the spoilers and the wing structure touch tightly with a compression of 25 to 30 percent.
S 284-023
(2)
Make sure the seals between the spoilers do not have an overlap.
S 824-024
(3)
Adjust the seals if they are not in the correct position.
(a)
Loosen the screws that attach the seals.
(b)
Adjust the seals.
(c)
Tighten the screws.
S 284-025
