 J. Examine the Spoiler to Flap Clearance
 S 864-028
 WARNING:_______OPEN THE CIRCUIT BREAKER TO PREVENT THE SPOILER RETRACTION. IF YOU USE THE SPEED BRAKE LEVER TO LIFT THE SPOILERS, AND IF YOU RELEASE PRESSURE IN SYSTEM NO.1 AND 4, THE SPOILERS WILL AUTOMATICALLY RETRACT. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
 (1)  
Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:

 (a)  
P7, Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
 1) 7G6, SPEED BRAKE AUTO CONT

 (2)  
Do this task: "Supply Electrical Power" (AMM 24-22-00/201).

 (3)  
Do this task: "Hydraulic System Pressurization" (AMM 29-11-00/201).

 (4)  
Put the speed brake control lever in the UP position to lift the spoilers.


 NOTE:____With the spoilers up. the trailing edge flaps will not touch the spoiler panels when you retract the flaps.

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
_______ FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WITH HYDRAULIC POWER REMOVED, THE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER.
 (5)  Retract the trailing edge flaps fully.
 NOTE: You must fully retract the trailing edge flaps with hydraulic
____ power. Keep the flap control lever in the UP position for 1 minute before you measure the clearance.

NOTE:  THE AIRPLANE MUST BE SUPPORTED ON ITS LANDING GEAR WHEN YOU MEASURE THIS CLEARANCE.

1  THE SPOILER PANELS ARE NOT FLAT.
AT THE NEAREST POINT.
BECAUSE OTHER PARTS OF THE PANEL CAN HAVE A GREATER
CLEARANCE.

(0.508 TO 4.06 mm). TO GET THIS DIMENSION,
ADJUST THE CLEARANCE TO 0.08 TO 0.10 INCH (2.032 TO 2.54 mm).

Put the speed brake control lever in the DOWN position to lower all spoilers until the control package piston is fully retracted.

Turn the aileron control wheel clockwise to make sure that spoilers No. 1 thru 4 are in the full down position.

Make sure the clearance between spoilers No. 1 thru 4 and the trailing edge flaps are in the tolerance shown in Fig. 402. There is no specified maximum clearance.

Turn the aileron control wheel counterclockwise to make sure that spoilers No. 9 thru 12 are in the full down position.

 Adjust the clearance between the spoiler and the flap if it is not in the tolerance.


 WARNING: DO NOT PUT A PART OF YOUR BODY BETWEEN THE SPOILER AND THE
_______ WING UNLESS THE SPOILER ACTUATOR IS LOCKED OR THE HYDRAULIC POWER IS RELEASED. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
