_______
PRESSURIZED. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE INTERNAL SEALS.
(d) Turn the piston rod to adjust the clearance between the spoiler
and the flap.
NOTE: Each 1/4 turn of the piston rod will change the____
clearance by approximately 0.14 inch.(3.556mm) If you
turn the piston rod to change the clearance by 0.35 inch
(8.89mm)or more, you must do the spoiler system
adjustment (AMM 27-61-00/501).
(e) Fill the rod end with the corrosion preventive compound before
the adjustment if it is necessary:
NOTE: If the piston rod is not full of the corrosion____
preventive compound, there will be corrosion.
1) Fill the rod end if you removed it from the control
package.
2) Fill the rod end if you moved the rod end out of the piston
0.50 inch (12.7mm) or more.
3) Remove the rod end from the spoiler and the control
package.
(f) Fill the piston with the corrosion preventive compound.
(g) Install the rod end.

Put the speed brake control lever in the DOWN position to lower all spoilers until the control package piston is fully retracted.
(a)
Make sure the clearance between the spoilers and the flaps are in the tolerance shown in Fig. 402. There is no specified maximum clearance. 1) If the clearance is not in the tolerance, loosen the
checknut and adjust the spoiler again.
(b)
If the clearance is in the tolerance, tighten the checknut to 1200-1300 pound-inches(135.6-146.9Nm) (for spoilers No. 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 and 12).
(c)
Loosen the checknut and make sure the parts of the locking device stay engaged correctly.
