C. Procedure

(1) Install the drive rod (Fig. 401):
NOTE: You will connect the drive rod to the midflap fitting during
____ the outboard flap track fairing adjustment.
(a) Attach the drive rod to the fixed drive link (Detail B): 1) Install the bushing in the fixed drive link. 2) Put the drive rod on the fixed drive link and install the
bolt, washers and nut.
3) Tighten the nut to 200-300 pound-inches (23-34 N-m). Continue to tighten the nut to align the subsequent cotter pin hole.
4) Install the cotter pin.

Clean the paint from the bolt holes on the attachment fitting and from the used bolts.

Install the attachment fitting (Fig. 401):
(a)
Install the attachment fitting on the flap track (Section D-D):
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE ATTACHMENT
_______ FITTING AND THE FLAP TRACK IS NOT MORE THAN 0.003 INCH AFTER YOU INSTALL THE SHIMS. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ATTACHMENT FITTING.
1) If it is necessary, remove 0.003 inch (0.076 mm) laminations from the shims to make sure the clearance between the attachment fitting and the flap track is not more than 0.003 inch (0.076 mm).
2) Install the shims with the wet primer. 3) Put the attachment fitting on the flap track and install the bolts with the wet primer.

4) On airplanes with lockwire bolts, put the attachment fitting on the flap track and install lockwire bolts with wet sealant.
5) Tighten the two top bolts and the forward bolt on each side of the flap track to 125-155 pound-inches (14-18 N-m).
6) Tighten the five lower bolts and the two aft bolts on each side of the flap track to 170-210 pound-inches (19-24 N-m).
(b) Attach the fixed drive link to the attachment fitting (Section C-C): 1) Install the bushings in the attachment fitting. 2) Put the pin through the fixed drive link and the attachment
fitting. 3) Install the bolt, washers and nut to attach the pin to the attachment fitting. 4) Tighten the nut to 60-85 pound-inches (7-10 N-m).
