 TRAILING EDGE FLAP POSITION INDICATING SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

 1.  General_______
 A.  This subject has one task. The task is an operational test of the trailing edge flap position indicating system (which is referred to as the "indicating system"). To do this test you will operate the trailing edge flap system, it is necessary to monitor the EICAS to make sure the flap position transmitter respond correctly to the command from the flap control lever.

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL
_______ SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. AILERONS, RUDDERS, ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SPOILERS, LANDING GEAR, AND THRUST REVERSERS CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

 D.  Do a Test of the Normal Flaps Display
 S 715-005
 (1)  Do this test of the indicating system:
 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE
_______ AND TE FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WITH HYDRAULIC POWER REMOVED, THE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY THE ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (a)  
Move the flap control lever to the 1-unit detent. 1) Make sure the FLAPS display shows on the main EICAS. 2) Make sure the flap indicator bar shows in magenta color

 when the group A LE flaps start to move. 3) Make sure the flap indicator bar changes to green color when the group A LE flaps are extended.

 (b)  
Move the flap control lever to the 5-unit detent. 1) Make sure the flap indicator bar changes to magenta color when the TE and the LE flaps start to move.

 2)  Make sure the flap indicator bar changes to green color when these flaps are extended: a) The TE flaps are extended to the 5-unit position. b) The group B LE flaps are extended fully.

 (c)  
Move the flap control lever to the 10-unit detent. 1) Make sure the flap indicator bar changes to magenta color when the TE flaps start to move.

 2)  Make sure the flap indicator bar changes to green color when the TE flaps are extended to the 10-unit position.

 (d)  
Move the flap control lever to the 20-unit detent. 1) Make sure the flap indicator bar changes to magenta color when the TE flaps start to move.

 2)  Make sure the flap indicator bar changes to green color when the TE flaps are extended to the 20-unit position.

 (e)  
Move the flap control lever to the 25-unit detent. 1) Make sure the flap indicator bar changes to magenta color when the TE flaps start to move.


 2)  Make sure the flap indicator bar changes to green color when the TE flaps are extended to the 25-unit position.
