 (8)  Set the horizontal stabilizer to 3 units of trim (B dimension is at
 41.57 |0.01 inches).

 (9)  Do this dual authority check:
 (a)  
Set the switches on the test set as follows: 1) LVDT FEEDBACK - A ON, B ON 2) LVDT EXCITATION - A ON, B ON 3) SOLENOID EXCITATION (PISTON and ENGAGE) - A ON, B ON 4) NSS EXCITATION - A OFF, B OFF 5) NSS FEEDBACK - A OFF, B OFF 6) CURRENT SELECT - A T-VALVE 7) SOLENOIDS ON/OFF (center switch) - ON 8) A&B SOLENOID - A NORM, B NORM 9) ACTUATOR SELECT - A&B COMMON 10) POWER - ON

 (b)  
Make sure that these lights on the test set are on:
 1) SOLENOID EXCITATION (PISTON and ENGAGE) - A
 2) SOLENOID EXCITATION (PISTON and ENGAGE) - B
 3) LVDT EXCITATION - A and B
 4) POWER

 

 NOTE: All other lights must be OFF.

 (c)  
Set the hydraulic A and B switches to the ON position.

 (d)  
Adjust the POSITION CONTROL A switch until the elevator is full up. Make sure that the right elevator position is between

 10.10 and 11.10 inches (16.81 and 18.49 degrees).

 (e)  
Adjust the POSITION CONTROL A switch until the elevator is full down. Make sure that the right elevator position is between

 7.10 and 8.10 inches (11.77 and 13.45 degrees).

 (f)  
Adjust the POSITION CONTROL A switch to align the elevator with the index mark |0.06 inch (0.10 degree). Lock the POSITION CONTROL A switch in its position.

 (g)  Connect the VTVM to the LVDT FEEDBACK - B J10B and J11B. Keep
 a record of the voltage.
 (h)  Set the ENGAGE A and ENGAGE B switches to the OFF position.
 (i)  Move the captain's control column to make sure that the system
 is in the center. Make sure that the trailing edge of the
 right elevator aligns with the index mark |0.06 inch (0.10
 degree).
 (j)  Set the ENGAGE A switch to the ON and then to the OFF position.
 Make sure that the elevator does not move. If it moves, align
 the elevator again with the POSITION CONTROL switches.
 (k)  Set the ENGAGE B switch to the ON and then to the OFF position.
 Make sure that the elevator does not move. If it moves, align
 the elevator again with the POSITION CONTROL switches.
 (l)  Set the ACTUATOR SELECT switch to the A&B INDEPENDENT position.
 (m)  Set the PISTON B and ENGAGE B switches to the ON position.
 (n)  Set the PISTON A and ENGAGE A switches to the OFF position.
 (o)  Adjust the POSITION CONTROL B switch until the VTVM reads the
 same voltage as in the step (g) |0.03. Make sure that the
 elevator aligns with the index mark |0.06 inch (0.10 degree).
 (p)  Set the ENGAGE B switch to the OFF, then to the ON, and then to
 the OFF position. Make sure that the elevator does not move.
 (q)  Set the PISTON A and ENGAGE A switches to the ON position.
 (r)  Connect the VTVM to the LVDT FEEDBACK - A J10A and J11A.
 (s)  Adjust the POSITION CONTROL A switch until the VTVM reads the
 same voltage as in the step (g) |0.03 volt. Make sure that the
 elevator aligns with the index mark |0.06 inch (0.10 degree).
