 NOTE: You do the autothrottle BITE test on the FMCS CDU.

 (1)  Do these steps to start the BITE test:
 (a)  Push the INIT/REF key and make sure the CDU shows one of the two POS INIT or the PERF INIT page.

Push the line select key (LSK) 6L (<INDEX).
 NOTE: Line select key 6L is the sixth key down on the
____ left-hand side of the CDU display. All data lines that permit operator selection have a caret (<) adjacent to the line select key (LSK).
Push the LSK 6R (MAINT>) and make sure the CDU shows MAINT BITE
 INDEX page 1/1.
Push the LSK 3L (<A/T).
Make sure the CDU shows page 1/2 of the A/T BITE TEST page.
Make sure the two red A/T disengage lights come on steady and
 the CDU shows the A/T BITE test page.

 NOTE: If the CDU does not show the A/T BITE TEST page and the

____ red A/T disengage lights are not on steady, do these steps:
 -
Make sure you close the LANDING GEAR AIR/GND RELAY AND LIGHT circuit breaker on the P6 panel,

 -
Make sure the landing gear lever handle is in the down position,

 -
Make sure the engines are off and any simulated N1 signals are less than 12-1/2% N1,


 -
Measure for +28 vdc on pin 2 of D1647B with respect to pin 1 of D1649A,

 -
Measure for 0 vdc (less than 1 vdc) on pin 4 of D1647B with respect to pin 1 of D1649A.


 Make sure these conditions are satisfactory. If the red A/T disengage warning lights still are not on steady, do a check for improper transmission or reception of the FMC-01 ARINC 429 Bus data.
 NOTE: If the red A/T disengage lights come on steady but the
____ CDU shows the A/T BITE INOP, there may be a data transmission problem. This problem may be caused by the improper transmission of the A/T-1 ARINC 429 Bus data.

 (g)  Push the NEXT PAGE key on the FMCS CDU.
 NOTE: Make sure the CDU shows page 2/2 of the A/T BITE TEST

 page.

 (h)  Push the LSK 2L (<RIGGING ADJUST) and make sure the CDU shows A/T BITE TEST RIGGING ADJUST page.

 (2)  AIRPLANES WITH A/T COMPUTER 10-62017-1 THRU 10-62017-5; Do the adjustment test:
 WARNING: YOU MUST STAY OUT OF THE CABLE RUNS AND THE MEC BOX AREA
_______ ON THE ENGINES. THE AUTOMATIC MOVEMENT OF THE THROTTLE LEVERS IN THIS TEST CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (a)  Engage the autothrottle.
 NOTE: Make sure the thrust levers move forward to about 20
____ degrees and then disengage. If the thrust levers do not move forward, open and then close the AUTO THROTTLE AC and DC circuit breakers. Then do the above steps again.
 (b)  Put a 1-inch rig pin (1/4 inch diameter) into the Part Power Rig hole "R" on the engine control box (Fig. 501).
 NOTE: Move the Power Lever back and forth when you insert the
____ rig pin into the Part Power Rig hole "R".
 (c)  
Push the LSK 6R (CONTINUE>) on the FMCS CDU.

 (d)  
Loosen the clamps on the PLA synchro.

 (e)  
Turn the synchro body until the display reads 109.1|0.5 degrees on each engine.

 (f)  
Retighten the PLA synchro clamps again.
