 AUTOTHROTTLE SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

 1.  General
_______
 NOTE: AIRPLANES WITH A/T COMPUTER P/N 10-62017-1 THRU P/N 10-62017-5, WITH
____ SERVICE BULLETINS FOR ENGINE INTERMIX, DERATE OR SUBSTITUTION; The A/T system is disconnected.
 NOTE: AIRPLANES WITH A/T COMPUTER P/N 10-62017-11 AND SUBSEQUENT, AND
____ EFIS SPEED TAPE DISPLAY (FAST/SLOW OPTION IS DISABLED); The CDU will show FMA/EFIS instead of FMA/ADI/EFIS in the INTERACTIVE and LRU INTERFACE tests.
 A.  The autothrottle (A/T) system gives computer commands to the throttles to get and keep the correct airspeed, Mach number, or engine N1 rating.
 B.  This procedure contains three tasks: the Operational Test, the System Test, and the Power Lever Angle (PLA) Synchro Adjustment.
 (1)  
The Operational Test does a fast check on the system by using the A/T BITE Current Status.

 (2)  
The System Test does a complete check of the A/T system and it includes:

 (a)  
A/T BITE Current Status

 (b)  
A/T BITE Interactive tests

 (c)  
AIRPLANES WITH A/T COMPUTER P/N 10-62017-11 AND SUBSEQUENT; A/T BITE Engines/Ratings Tests is added.

 (d)  
AIRPLANES WITH DUAL FMC;
 Dual FMC Switching Interface Test


 (e)  
Simulated N1 Tach Signal input test

 

 (3)  
The Power Lever Angle (PLA) Synchro Adjustment does a check of the PLA Synchro rigging.

 2.  Operational Test - Autothrottle System

 A.  General
 (1)  
The operational test does a fast check on the autothrottle system . This test uses some of the A/T BITE tests. The A/T BITE can be done step by step on the FMCS control display unit (CDU). For instruction on how to use the A/T BITE, refer to 22-04, A/T system -Built-In Test Equipment.

 (2)  
The CDU data lines are identified with a caret (<) or (>) adjacent to the line-select key (LSK). The two terms used for page/sequence control of the BITE are: CONTINUE> and <INDEX. CONTINUE> lets you continue to the next page of the procedure. <INDEX lets you go back to the previous index page.

 (3)  The FMCS CDU (Fig. 501) has 12 LSK (6 on each side of the CDU display). These keys are identified as 1L to 6L and 1R to 6R. If a step shows "LSK 6L", it refers to the sixth key down on the left hand side of the CDU display.
