D. Prepare For The System Test
S 865-004
(1) Do these steps to prepare for the system test:
(a) Set the "A" PITOT STATIC HEAT switch (pilots' overhead panel) to OFF to remove the heat from the left angle of airflow (Alpha) vane.
NOTE: Do not touch the Alpha vane unless you turn the "A"
____ pitot static heat switch off.
(b) Connect the radio altitude signal generator.
NOTE: Set the radio altimeter to zero unless you receive
____
different instructions.
(c) Connect the pitot-static test set to the DADC pitot and static sources.
NOTE: Keep the ambient pressure unless you receive different
____
instructions.
(d)
Align the airspeed reference bugs with the airspeed pointers (on the Mach/Airspeed indicator).
WARNING:_______THE HOT ALPHA VANES CAN CAUSE SEVERE BURNS. MAKE SURE THE VANE IS COOL BEFORE YOU TOUCH IT.
(e)
Set the left angle-of-airflow sensor vane in a trailing edge up position of 3.0 |1.0 degrees.
(f)
Connect a signal generator to each of the engine N1 tach connector.
NOTE: The polarity of the tach signals does not matter.
____
(g)
Remove connector D546 and attach a signal generator to pins 1 and 2.
(h)
Set the voltage levels at 10 |3 volts peak to peak at a frequency of 1086 |130 Hz (which simulates 42.0 |5% N1).
(i)
Put this data into the CDU to start the FMCS: 1) The outside temperature (OAT) (it is not necessary to do
this step on airplanes with a TAT probe) 2) The destination elevation (100 Ft) 3) The zero fuel weight (30.0 thousand Kg or 66.0 thousand
pounds) 4) The reserve fuel weight (5.3 thousand Kg. or 12.0 thousand pounds)
NOTE:____Use Metric or English units as required. 1 Kg. =
2.205 pound, 1 pound = 0.4536 Kg.
