Make sure the crank arm of the neutral shift mechanism can move freely between the clevis of the actuator arm.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU TURN THE NEUTRAL SHIFT CRANK IN THE UP
_______ DIRECTION. IF YOU INSTALL THE NEUTRAL SHIFT CRANK INCORRECTLY, THE STABILIZER CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU ENGAGE THE AUTOPILOT. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(4) Install the Double Bolt:
(a)
Install the double bolt, two washers, and the large nut that attaches the actuator arm to the neutral shift mechanism.
(b)
Tighten the nut to 85-100 pound-inches.
CAUTION: DO NOT CHANGE THE TORQUE ON THE LARGE NUT AFTER YOU
_______ TIGHTEN THE SMALL NUT. IF CHANGED, THE TORQUE VALUE WILL BE INCORRECT.
(c)
Install the washer and the small nut on the double bolt.
(d)
Tighten the nut to 30-35 pound inches.
(e)
Tighten the mounting bolts on the side to 20-25 pound-inches.

Install the electrical connector to the mach trim actuator.

Remove the rigging pin E-5 from the aft control quadrant.

Do the mach trim actuator A/T (Ref 22-21-11/501).
F. Put the airplane back to its initial condition.

MACH TRIM ACTUATOR - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. General
A. This procedure contains two tasks. The first task is a test of the Mach Trim actuator. There are two Mach Trim Actuator tests provided, but one of the tests are necessary. These tests use:
