2. Operational Test - Yaw Damper System

A. General
(1) This procedure does a program pin test and a self-test of the yaw damper coupler.

(1)
Make sure the manual control lever for the rudder pressure reducer is in the NORMAL position (AMM 27-21-96/201).
(2)
Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

Set the yaw damper engage switch on the P5 overhead panel to OFF.

(a) Make sure that the yaw damper disengage warning light above the switch comes on.

(4) Make sure that the A/P warning lights on the captain's and first officer's main instrument panels (P1 and P3) are off.
NOTE: The A/P warning lights are on the autoflight status

Do the yaw damper coupler program pin test:
NOTE: The BITE display will go off five minutes after a constant
____ display is shown. To stop this, press the specified key on the keypad within five minutes. This will occur in all yaw damper coupler BITE tests.
(a)
Push the ON/OFF key on the BITE keypad on the face of the yaw damper coupler (E1-3). 1) Make sure that the display shows ENTER BITE?
(b)
Push the YES key on the keypad within ten seconds. 1) Make sure that the A/P warning lights on the autoflight
status annunciators (P1 and P3) come on. 2) Make sure that the display shows EXISTING FAULTS?
(c)
Push the YES key on the keypad.
1) If the display shows NO FAULTS, then do these steps: a) Push the MENU key on the keypad. b) Make sure that the display shows EXISTING FAULTS? c) Omit the subsequent nine steps of this procedure.
NOTE: The subsequent nine steps show how to reset
____ latches. If there are no faults, then there are no latches to reset. Continue the procedure at the step to push and release the the down arrow key until the display shows GROUND TESTS?
2) If the display shows a fault message, then do these steps: a) Push and release the down arrow key until the display
shows RESET LATCHES? b) Push the YES key on the keypad. c) Make sure that the display shows ARE YOU SURE? d) Push the YES key on the keypad.
