CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE OUTLET HOSE OF COMPRESSED AIR HAS AN
_______ AIR IONIZING GUN ATTACHMENT OR AIR IONIZING NOZZLE. THE MCP IS ELECTRONIC SENSITIVE EQUIPMENT.
(a)
Use the compressed air or a brush (soft and natural-bristle) to remove light dirt and dust from the surface of the MCP.
CAUTION:_______DO A CHECK ON THE ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL BEFORE USE. MAKE SURE THAT IT DOES NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE PAINTED SURFACE OR THE HEA (HIGH EFFICIENCY ANTI-REFLEXIVE) COATING ON THE GLASS FILTERS. DO NOT APPLY THE ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL DIRECTLY TO THE SURFACE OF THE MCP. THE ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL MUST DRY QUICKLY TO PREVENT MOISTURE IN THE CRITICAL COMPONENT.
(b)
Use the cotton swab with a small quantity of isopropyl alcohol to remove heavy oil and grease from the surface of the MCP.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE LIQUID CLEANING AGENTS TO CLEAN THE LIQUID
_______ CRYSTAL DISPLAY (LCD). THE LIQUID CLEANING AGENTS CAN CAUSE MOISTURE COMTAMINATION TO THE LCD MODULES.
(c) Use the lens tissue to remove dust, dirt, oil, and grease from the LCD displays and edgelight panel.

DFCS MODE CONTROL PANEL - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains two tasks. the first task is the removal of the DFCS Mode Control Panel (MCP). The second task is the installation of the MCP.
B. You can find the DFCS Mode Control Panel (MCP) at the center of the glare shield on the instrument panel, P2. The four mounting screws on the front and bottom attach the MCP to the glare shield. On the rear, you will find three electrical receptacles which connect to the airplanes wiring connectors.

(1) Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a)
P18-1 Circuit Breaker Panel
1) AFDS MCP DC
2) AFCS ENGAGE INTLK A
3) AUTOTHROTTLE DC
(b)
P6-2 Circuit Breaker Panel
1) AFDS MCP CRS 2 DC
2) AFCS ENGAGE INTLK B

(2) Remove the MCP:
(a)
Remove the four mounting screws on the front and bottom of the MCP.
(b)
Carefully pull out the MCP to get access to the electrical connectors at the rear.
(c)
Disconnect the electrical connectors.
(d)
Remove the MCP.
