Open the Electronic Equipment Access Door, 1201.
F. Yaw Damper Coupler Servo Test
S 745-013
(1) Do the yaw damper coupler servo test:
(a)
Push the ON/OFF key on the BITE keypad on the face of the yaw damper coupler (E1-3). 1) Make sure that the display shows ENTER BITE?
(b)
Push the YES key on the keypad within ten seconds. 1) Make sure that the display shows EXISTING FAULTS? 2) Make sure that the A/P warning lights on the autoflight
status annunciators (P1 and P3) come on.
(c)
Push and release the down arrow key until the display shows GROUND TESTS?
(d)
Push the YES key on the keypad. 1) Make sure that the display shows SELF TEST?
(e)
Push the down arrow key on the keypad. 1) Make sure that the display shows SERVO TEST?
(f)
Push the YES key on the keypad.
1) Make sure that the display shows these indications: a) WARNING! WARNING! b) RUDDER MOVEMENT c) RUDDER CLEARED?
(g)
Make sure that all personnel are clear of the rudder.
WARNING:_______THE STEPS THAT FOLLOW WILL CAUSE THE RUDDER TO MOVE. MAKE SURE THAT ALL PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE RUDDER BEFORE YOU DO THESE STEPS. RUDDER MOVEMENT CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(h)
Push the YES key on the keypad. 1) Make sure that the display shows FLT CTRL B SW ON?
(i)
Set the FLT CONTROL B switch on the P5 overhead panel to ON.
1) Make sure that the FLT CONTROL B low pressure light on the P5 overhead panel goes off.

Set the yaw damper engage switch on the P5 overhead panel to ON. 1) Make sure that the yaw damper disengage warning light on
the P5 overhead panel goes out.
(k)
During the test that follows, the yaw damper indicator on the P2 center instrument panel will move. Make sure that it moves left, then right, and then goes back to center.
NOTE: This sequence of yaw damper indicator movement will
____
occur two times.
(l) Push the YES key on the keypad.
1) Make sure that the display shows these indications: a) TEST IN PROGRESS b) TESTING LIMITS
2) After approximately two seconds, the display will show these indications:
NOTE:____The x's are a number. You can ignore the value of the number. It is not necessary to check that these indications show on the display.
a) YD cmd positive
b) LVDT pos xxxxx deg
c) YD cmd negative
d) LVDT pos xxxxx deg
e) YD cmd zero
f) LVDT pos xxxxx deg
3) After approximately 30 seconds, make sure that the display shows PCU LIM |3 deg.
4) After approximately 5 seconds, the display will show these indications: a) SECOND SWEEP b) YD cmd xxxxx deg c) LVDT pos xxxxx deg d) YD cmd xxxxx deg e) LVDT pos xxxxx deg f) YD cmd 0.00 deg g) LVDT pos xxxxx deg
5) After approximately 60 seconds, make sure that the display shows TEST PASS.
(m)
Push the ON/OFF key on the keypad. 1) Make sure that the display shows TURN DISPLAY OFF?
(n)
Push the YES key on the keypad. 1) Make sure that the display momentarily shows DISPLAY OFF.
NOTE: The the yaw damper coupler does a 15-second shutdown

procedure after this indication.
