_______ SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. AILERONS, RUDDERS, ELEVATORS FLAPS, SLATS, SPOILERS, LANDING GEAR, AND THRUST REVERSERS CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(10) Supply hydraulic power (AMM 29-15-00/201, Hydraulic Systems).
F. Mach Trim Actuator Test
S 725-015
(1) Do these steps to do a test of the mach trim actuator.
(a)
Set the power switch on the test box to the ON position.
(b)
Set the speed switch on the test box to 12uf.
(c)
Operate the actuator with the direction control (EXTEND/RETRACT) on the test box to get a null on the VTVM (100mV maximum).
(d)
Set the speed switch on the test box to 2uf.
(e)
Operate the actuator with the direction control (RETRACT) to get a value of 17.6 +/- 0.3V AC on the VTVM.
(f)
Make sure the time to retract the actuator is between 10 and 19 seconds.
(g)
Move the aft control quadrant in the tail cone (Fig 501, sheet 2) to make sure the system is in the center, then release.

Measure the right elevator position, in inches, up from the index mark on the tail cone (Fig 501, sheet 3) and write the position down.
(i)
Operate the actuator with the direction control (EXTEND) to get a value of 0 +/- 0.100V AC on the VTVM.
(j)
Make sure the time necessary to retract the actuator is between 10 and 19 seconds.
(k)
Move the aft control quadrant in the tail cone to make sure the system is in the center, then release it.
(l)
Measure the right elevator position, in inches, up (or down) from the index mark on the tail cone and write the position down.
(m)
Calculate the distance the elevator moved from the value in step (h) to the value from step (l).
(n)
Make sure that the distance is 2.52 |0.25 inches.
NOTE: This is the same as an angular movement of 4.20 |0.25
