Press numbered keys in sequence for present position latitude and observe that correct latitude appears in left-hand data display.
NOTE: Numbers shift to left in display as each additional
____ number is loaded. If incorrect data is displayed, press CLEAR key and repeat steps (a) and (b).
(c)
Press INSERT key and observe that INSERT key light remains illuminated.
(d)
Press W4 or E6 key for west or east present position longitude and observe that 000.00.0 followed by correct letter (W or E) appears in right-hand data display.
(e)
Press INSERT key. Observe that INSERT key light extinguishes and that correct present position data with 0.2 minute is displayed in both left-hand and right-hand displays.
(3) Place MSU mode selector switch to ALIGN.
NOTE: Do not set mode selector switch to NAV during this test.

E. Test Horizontal Situation Indicators (AIRPLANES WITH DELCO INS)
(1) Set INS No. 1 and No. 2 mode selector switches (pilots' overhead panel P5) to ALIGN.

(2) Set INS No. 1 and No. 2 CDU data selectors to DSRTK/STS and
allow each INS to align until actual PI number goes from 9 to 7.
NOTE: The PI number is located in position X on right-hand____
CDU display (OYY-X5).
(3) Set CAPT's and F/O's VOR-ILS/INS switches to INS position.
(4) On ATLAS ALL EXCEPT AT 701-750,
set INS transfer switch on captain's instrument panel to CAPT 1
F/O 2 position.
On AT 701-750,
set INS transfer switch on both the captain's and first officer's
instrument panel to NORM.
(5) Verify that on both captain's and first officer's HSI:
(a) INS/VOR-ILS annunciator reads INS
(b) Data source annunciators read 1 and 2 respectively.
(6) Set INS No. 1 and No. 2 CDU data selectors to any position except
DSRTK/STS.
(7) Press and hold TEST button on INS No. 1 CDU. Observe the
following indications on captain's HSI.
(a) HEADING and navigation (striped) flags are out of view.
(b) TRUE/MAG annunciator reads TRUE.
(c) Preset heading bug, course pointer and 0 on azimuth card are
positioned under lubber line.
(d) Course deviation bar is positioned one dot to right of center.
(8) Verify that MILES and GND SPEED displays read all 8's on captain's
HSI.
(9) Release TEST button. Verify that captain's HSI HEADING and
navigation (striped) flags come into view.
(10)
Press and hold TEST button on INS No. 2 CDU. Observe the following indications on first officer's HSI.
(a)
HEADING and navigation (striped) flags are out of view.
(b)
TRUE/MAG annunciator reads TRUE.
(c)
Preset heading bug, course pointer and 0 on azimuth card are positioned under lubber line.
(d)
Course deviation bar is positioned one dot to right of center.
(11)
Verify that MILES and GND SPEED displays read all 8's on first officer's HSI.
(12)
Release TEST button. Verify that first officer's HSI HEADING and navigation (striped) flags come into view.
F. Test Horizontal Situation Indicator (Airplanes with Litton LTN-72RL or LTN-92 INS).
(1)
Place mode selector switch on each MSU to STBY.
(2)
Enter present position coordinates into each INS.
(3)
Place mode selector switch on each MSU to ALIGN.
(4)
Press STS pushbutton on each CDU; SYS STS/TEST page will appear on each CDU display, with ALIGN between entry line markers. The number on ALIGN line is status number. Observe each INS aligns to status 50 or a lower number.
