 A.  34-41-03, INS Navigation Unit - Adjustment/Test
 B.  34-41-12, INS Cooling Fan - Adjustment/Test
 4.  Remove INS Navigation Unit

 NOTE:____An air filter is installed on top of DELCO navigation units. When one of these units is replaced, the filter must remain with the removed unit.
 A.  Set mode selector switch on appropriate MSU (on pilots' overhead panel P5) to OFF position.
 B.  Set ATT/COMP STAB switch on the captain's main instrument panel to CAPT 1 - F/O 2 position.
 C.  On circuit breaker panel P7, open all INS 1, 2 or 3 circuit breakers depending on which INU is to be removed. On FREIGHTERS; IB 406-499 and SN ALL EXCEPT 301, 302, some INS 3 circuit breakers are on circuit breaker panel P126.
 D.  Open circuit breaker on front panel of battery unit associated with the INU being removed.
 CAUTION: ALLOW 2 MINUTES FOR GYROS TO RUN DOWN BEFORE REMOVING UNIT OR
_______ GYRO AND GIMBAL DAMAGE MAY RESULT. USE CARE DURING REMOVAL TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO AIRFLOW SEAL.
 E.  Remove INS navigation unit (DELCO INS)
 CAUTION: TO AVOID DAMAGE TO AIR FILTERS, DO NOT STACK NAVIGATION

 UNITS.

 NOTE: Facing aft, navigation unit No. 2 is installed on the left, No. 3

 in the center, and No. 1 on the right.

 F.  Remove inertial navigation unit (LITTON INS)
 NOTE: Facing aft, INU No. 2 is installed on the left, No. 3 in the
____
 center, and No. 1 on the right.

 5.  Install INS Navigation Unit (Fig. 401, Sh. 1 [DELCO INS])

 A.  Prior to placing navigation unit on mounting shelf, perform the following:

 (1)  
Check INS cooling fan and screen for accumulation of dust or debris. Clean if required (Ref 34-41-12).

 (2)  
Perform INS cooling system test (Ref 34-41-12).

 B.  Slide navigation unit onto shelf. Engage camlock handles in shelf fork assemblies and actuate to fully seat connectors at rear of unit.
 CAUTION: CARE IS REQUIRED TO PREVENT TEARING OF AIRFLOW SEAL.

 C.  When connectors are fully seated, a noticeable increase in pressure is felt in locking levers. At this point, thread fork assembly in or out until locking levers are 0.20 to 0.30 inch from locked position (Fig. 401).
 CAUTION: IMPROPER ADJUSTMENT OF CAM-LOCK LEVER LATCH FORK ASSEMBLIES ON
_______ EQUIPMENT SHELF MAY CAUSE SYSTEM MALFUNCTION OR EQUIPMENT DAMAGE.
 D.  Tighten jamnuts on fork assemblies to 20-25 pound-inches.
 E.  Seat locking levers into handles.
 F.  Close circuit breakers opened in removal procedure.
 G.  After installation, perform INS navigation unit test (Ref 34-41-03).
 6.  Install INS Navigation Unit (Fig. 401, Sh. 2 [LITTON INS])

 A.  Slide INU into tray until approximately 4 inches short of being
 completely seated.

 CAUTION: CARE IS REQUIRED TO PREVENT TEARING OF AIRFLOW SEAL.

 B.  Press handle releases (Fig. 401, Sheet 2) up until levers open.
 C.  Press levers down as far as possible and slide INU into tray until completely mated with connectors.
 D.  Engage fork assembly with handle latch, then press levers into handles until seated in place.
 E.  Close circuit breakers opened in removal procedure.
 F.  After installation, perform INS navigation unit test (Ref 34-41-03).
