14) Set the mode select switch to the MAP position.
15) Turn the GAIN control slowly from the MAX counterclockwise position. a) Make sure the gain messages MAX, -1, -2, -3, -4, -5,
-6, -7 and MIN show on both indicators. 16) Turn the GAIN control to obtain a moderately level return. 17) Turn the GAIN control counterclockwise to the MIN position.

18) Turn the GAIN control clockwise in the direction of the MAX position. a) Make sure the radar targets increase on indicators.
19) Turn the GAIN control clockwise to the CAL position.

a) Make sure there are no gain messages shown on both indicators.
(b)
Set the SYS switch on the WXR control panel to the 2 position.
(c)
Do the Gain Test for system 2.
(d)
Set the SYS switch on the WXR control panel to the 1 position.
(e)
If no more tests of weather radar are necessary; Do the Weather Radar System Shutdown Task.
K. AF 183, 184; Gain Test
NOTE: The full gain test will not be possible when there are no
____ weather radar targets from mountains or large structures. When there are no targets, only the gain message part of this test will be done.
(1) Do a weather radar gain test.
(a)
Set the controls and switches on the WXR control panel as follows:

Set the SYS switch to the 1 position.
1) Push the SCH MODE switch.
WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE THE WEATHER RADAR WHILE FUEL IS_______
ADDED OR REMOVED FROM THE AIRPLANE. DO NOT
TRANSMIT RF ENERGY WHILE FUEL IS ADDED OR REMOVED
IN AN AREA 300 FEET OR LESS OF THE ANTENNA. THIS
CAN CAUSE AN EXPLOSION.
MAKE SURE NO PERSONS ARE IN THE AREA 50 FEET OR
LESS FROM THE ANTENNA WHEN IT TRANSMITS RF
ENERGY. RF ENERGY CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
2) Turn the antenna TILT control above 0 degree to the best
possible radar targets on the indicator's.
3) Set the GAIN control to the 12 o'clock (calibrate)
position.
4) Turn the GAIN control counterclockwise from the 12 to the 6
o'clock position.
a) Make sure the intensity of the radar targets decrease
on the indicator's.
5) Turn the GAIN control clockwise from the 12 o'clock to the
3 o'clock position.
a) Make sure the intensity of the radar targets increase
on the indicator's.
6) Push the MAP MODE switch.
7) Set the GAIN control to the 7 o'clock position.
8) Turn the GAIN control counterclockwise from the 7 o'clock
to the 6 o'clock position.
a) Make sure the intensity of radar targets decrease on
the indicator's.
9) Turn the GAIN control clockwise from the 7 o'clock to the
3 o'clock position.
