(b) Place INS units 1 and 2 on tilt table and connect extension cables. Zero level the tables. INS units should face in same
general direction as when installed in mounting rack in airplane.
CAUTION: BEFORE REMOVING INU-1, INU-2 AND INU-3, TURN OFF
_______ POWER AND ALLOW APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES FOR GYROS TO COAST DOWN. IF UNITS ARE REMOVED TOO SOON, GYROSCOPIC PRECESSION COULD RESULT IN DAMAGE.
(c)
Turn on INS for operation and erect to at least coarse align mode (Ref 34-41-00). Attitude flags on Capt's and F/O's ADI should be out of view before TEST mode on control panel is selected.
(d)
Set INS-1 tilt table to 0-degree pitch and roll. Check STAB fail message is not present with attitude input applied.
(e)
Set INS-1 tilt table for 30-degree right roll. Check STAB message is not present on indicator display.
(f)
Set INS-1 tilt table for a 30-degree left roll. Check STAB message is not present on indicator.
(g)
Set control panel TILT control to +5-degree tilt. Increase INS-1 tilt table right roll until blue STAB message appears on both indicators. Verify tilt table is at 45 |1 degrees right roll.
(h)
Return INS-1 tilt table to 0-degree pitch and roll. Check blue STAB message is not present on indicator display.
(i)
Set INS-2 tilt table for a 30-degree left roll. Check blue STAB message is not present on indicator displays.
(j)
Increase INS-2 tilt table left roll until blue STAB message appears on both indicators. Verify tilt table is at 45 |1 degrees left roll.
(k)
Return INS-1 tilt table to 0-degree pitch and roll. Check blue STAB message is not present on indicator display.
(l)
Rotate control panel mode selector to WX, or MAP. Check indicators display appropriate messages for range, mode, range mark interval, and tilt.
(m)
On control panel, place SYS switch to 2 and repeat test for system 2.
(n)
If no further tests of weather radar are required, perform Weather Radar System Shutdown Procedure.
4. Weather Radar System Shutdown Procedure_______________________________________
A. Position indicator controls as follows:
(1)
BRT - Fully counterclockwise
(2)
Range - OFF
B. Position control panel controls and switches on as follows:
(1)
GAIN - AUTO
(2)
TILT - 0 Degree
(3)
SYS - 1
(4)
Mode selector - OFF
C. Position ATTITUDE switches on captain's and first officer's instrument panels to NORM.

(1) When INS is no longer required for further testing or other use on the airplane, place INS mode selector switch in OFF position and shut down INS (Ref 34-41-00 INS A/T).
CAUTION: FAILURE TO SELECT "OFF" ON INS MODE SELECTOR PRIOR TO
_______ REMOVING AIRPLANE POWER WILL CAUSE INS TO AUTOMATICALLY SWITCH TO BATTERY POWER AND A WARNING HORN IN NOSE WHEEL WELL TO ACTUATE 30 |10 SECONDS AFTER POWER IS REMOVED FROM AIRPLANE.
D. Remove INS-1, INS-2 and INS-3 from tilt table and install in main equipment center racks (Ref 34-41-03 R/I).
CAUTION: BEFORE REMOVING INU-1, INU-2 AND INU-3, TURN OFF POWER AND

WEATHER RADAR SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST
______________________________________
1. General_______
A. This procedure has three tasks for the weather radar system:
(1)
An operational test
(2)
A system test
(3)
A system shutdown test.
B. The operational test uses the self test circuits to make sure the weather radar system is serviceable. The system test makes sure all functions of the weather radar operate correctly. The system shutdown procedure is used to set the weather radar system and other related airplane equipment back to their usual condition.
C. If faults are encountered during a test, stop the test, and replace appropriate LRU as shown on the indicators.
