Test INS-1 UPDATING annunciators 1) Position No. 1 INS CDU display selector switch to DIS/TIME. 2) Press and hold No. 1 INS CDU TEST switch. Check INS
UPDATING 1 annunciators, on P1 and P3 change from black to green. 3) Release TEST switch.

Enter DME station latitude and longitude into No. 1 INS CDU as follows: 1) Position display selector switch to DSRTK/STS. 2) Press key 4. 3) Press INSERT. Check right display shows "4" in rightmost
digit. 4) Position display selector switch to WAY PT. 5) Rotate thumbwheel switch to 1. 6) Simultaneously press keys 7 and 9. Check FROM TO display
is blank on FROM side and TO side flashes 0. 7) Key in and insert any latitude and longitude.

8) Press WY PT CHG key until it lights. Check INSERT key lights and "O" in FROM-TO display stops flashing.
9) Press key 1 and then depress INSERT key. Check WY PT CHG and INSERT lights go out and TO side of FROM-TO display flashes 1.
(i)
Place INS-1 in LOOK routine by performing the following on No. 1 INS CDU. 1) Position display selector switch to TK/GS. 2) Press WY PT CHG key. 3) Key 99 into FROM-TO display. 4) Press CLEAR key. Check WY PT CHG light goes out and 99
remains in FROM-TO display.
5) Rotate thumbwheel switch to 0.

Check contents of INS-1 memory location 1342, for DME distance data as follows: 1) Position display selector switch to WAY PT. 2) Enter N, 1, 3, 4, 2. Check left display shows 1342. 3) Press INSERT. Check left display shows 1342. 4) Position display selector switch to DIS/TIME. Check
display is between 0015 2634 and 0020 2424.

Check contents of INS-1 memory location 26, for DME valid as follows: 1) Position display selector switch to WAY PT. 2) Enter N, 2, 6. Check left display shows 26. 3) Press INSERT. Check left display shows 26. 4) Position display selector switch to DIS/TIME. Check
display is 46XX XXXX where X is any number.
5) Open DME-1 circuit breaker. Check INS-1 CDU left display decreases by 20 (to indicate DME flag invalid). Ensure right display does not change.

Return INS-1 to normal by performing the following: 1) Press WY PT CHG key. Check WY PT CHG key lights. 2) Press 1 3) Press CLEAR

Repeat steps (f) thru (l) substituting INS-2 for INS-1, No. 2 INS CDU for No. 1 INS CDU, INS UPDATING 2 annunciator for INS UPDATING 1 annunciator and DME-2 circuit breaker for DME-1 circuit breaker.
(n)
If the INS is no longer required, restore airplane to normal.
(8) Test Inertial Navigation/DME Interface (airplanes with Delco CIVA-28A-2 INS).
(a)
If required, prepare for test as described in par. D.
(b)
Ensure all DME circuit breakers (P7 panel) are closed.
(c)
Position mode selector on INS 1 and INS 2 MSU to STBY.
(d)
Verify present position coordinates are entered into each INS.
(e)
Set up DME test set to provide a 5 N.m range output at 108.00 MHz (Ref 34-55-00 A/T).

(f) On captain's VHF NAV control panel, turn on and tune DME-1
receiver to frequency of 108.00. Check DME-1 indicator
(pilots' instrument panel) for proper display.
(g) Position CDU-1 data selector to DIS/TIME.
(h) Simultaneously press 3/FREQ and 9/DME keys on CDU-1. Check
CDU-1 left data display shows slant range distance of DME. The
CDU display should agree with the distance displayed on DME-1
indicator.
(i) Repeat steps (f) thru (h) substituting first officer's VHF NAV
control panel for captain's panel, DME-2 receiver for DME-1,
DME-2 indicator for DME-1, and CDU-2 for CDU-1.
(j) If INS is no longer required, restore airplane to normal.
XA (9) Test Inertial Navigation/DME Interface (Airplanes with CIVA INS and
XA DME updating capability) (AF procedure)
XA (a) If required, prepare for test as described in par D.
XA (b) Ensure all DME circuit breakers (P7 panel) are closed.
XA (c) Verify present position coordinates are entered into INS.
XA (d) Ensure each INS is in the navigate (NAV) mode, and each MSU NAV
XA READY lights is off.
XA (e) Test INS-1 UPDATING annunciators.
