WEATHER RADAR SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST
______________________________________
1. General
_______
A. The weather radar system adjustment/test procedure consists of an operational test (par. 2), a system test (par. 3), and a system shutdown procedure (par. 4).
B. The prepare for test procedure within the operational test must be completed before the operational test or one of the system tests can be accomplished. However, the prepare for test procedure does not need to be repeated for each test if two or more tests are to be performed in sequence.
C. If faults are encountered during a test, stop the test, and replace the appropriate LRU as indicated on the CRT display.
2. Operational Test - Weather Radar System
_______________________________________
A. The operational test utilizes the test mode and other self-test capabilities in the weather radar system to check system performance. When the test mode is selected, receiver/transmitter circuits are tested (system transmits) for 4 seconds and then are muted. A special test pattern is generated and remains on as long as the test mode is selected. By utilization of the internally generated test pattern, the system is capable of detecting most faults without additional test equipment.
WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE WEATHER RADAR WHILE THE AIRPLANE IS BEING
_______ REFUELED OR DEFUELED AND DO NOT OPERATE IN ANY RADIATING MODE WHILE A FUELING OPERATION IS BEING CONDUCTED WITHIN 300 FEET OF THE ANTENNA OR AN EXPLOSION MAY OCCUR.
PERSONNEL MUST NOT ENTER AN AREA CLOSER THAN 50 FEET IN FRONT OF A RADIATING ANTENNA OR INJURY TO PERSONNEL MAY OCCUR.

C. Prepare to Test
(1)
Provide electrical power (Ref 24-22-00).
(2)
Provide equipment cooling (Ref 21-58-00).
CAUTION: ENSURE EQUIPMENT COOLING IS OPERATING BEFORE TURNON OF
_______ ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT MAY RESULT. EQUIPMENT COOLING SYSEM MUST BE SET FOR NORMAL COOLING AS DESCRIBED IN 21-58-00.
(3)
Check WEA RDR R/T 1 and 2 and IND 1 and 2 circuit breakers on electronic circuit breaker panel P7 are closed.
(4)
Prepare INS for operation and erect to at least coarse align mode (Ref 34-41-00). Attitude flags on Capt's and F/O's ADI should be out of view before TEST mode on control panel is selected.
(5)
AF 121, 122, Position ATT/COMP STAB switch on captain's main instrument panel to CAPT 1-F/O 2.
