E. AF 183, 184; Select ranges 20, 40, 80, 160 and 240 and check for following:
(1) Range messages displayed in upper right corner (slot 3).
F. AF 160, 162-171; Rotate TILT control to 15 UP, 15 DN and return to 0. Indicator tilt message (slot 14) follows control panel setting.
G. Rotate LEFT and RIGHT TILT control to 15 UP, 15 DN and return to 0. Indicator tilt message (slot 8) follows control panel setting.
H. On each indicator rotate MKR and INT controls, and observe weather radar indicator display markers and intensity change as controls are adjusted. Return controls to midposition.
I. On weather radar control panel, set the SYS transfer switch to 2 and repeat trouble shooting procedure for system No. 2.
J. AF 160, 162-171; If weather radar system is no longer required, set PWR switches on both indicators to off position.
K. AF 183, 184; If weather radar system is no longer required, set the SYS transfer switch to OFF.

WEATHER RADAR SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST
______________________________________
1. General_______
A. An operational test may be performed to determine that the weather radar system is ready for operation. In the operational test, the transmitter transmits into the dummy load and a test pattern is observed instead of regular radar display. Also, antenna stabilization is tested through the use of self-test facilities.
B. The system check of the weather radar system checks the response accuracy of the antenna to pitch and roll signals from the INS system, and some transmit mode tests. The operational test is a portion of the system test, and should be performed first. The system tests are performed as a periodic maintenance function, or may be performed separately as aids to fault isolation.
WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE WEATHER RADAR WHILE THE AIRPLANE IS BEING
_______ REFUELED OR DEFUELED AND DO NOT OPERATE IN ANY RADIATING MODE WHILE A FUELING OPERATION IS BEING CONDUCTED WITHIN 300 FEET OF THE ANTENNA OR AN EXPLOSION MAY OCCUR.
PERSONNEL MUST NOT ENTER AN AREA CLOSER THAN 50 FEET OF A RADIATING ANTENNA OR INJURY TO PERSONNEL MAY OCCUR.
CAUTION: WHEN THE WEATHER RADAR IS OPERATED IN ANY MODE OTHER
_______ THAN STANDBY OR TEST, DIRECT THE NOSE OF AIRPLANE SO THE FORWARD 180-DEGREE SECTOR IS FREE OF LARGE METALLIC OBJECTS (HANGARS, TRUCKS, OTHER AIRPLANES, ETC.) FOR A DISTANCE OF 300 FEET AND TILT THE ANTENNA UPWARD 14 DEGREES OR DAMAGE TO RECEIVER MAY OCCUR.
CAUTION: DO NOT OPERATE WEATHER RADAR IN TEST MODE UNLESS INS SYSTEM
_______ IS OPERATING AND CAPT'S AND F/O'S ADI ATTITUDE FLAGS ARE OUT OF VIEW SIGNIFYING VALID STABILIZATION INPUTS FROM INS SYSTEM. THIS IS TO PREVENT ANTENNA FROM BUMPING REPEATEDLY AGAINST STOPS.

B. Test Weather Radar System Operation
(1)
At weather radar control panel on pilots' forward control stand, select OFF mode.
(2)
Check that WEA RAD R/T 1 and IND-1 circuit breakers are closed on electronic circuit breaker panel P7.
(3)
Check that WEA RAD R/T 2 and IND-2 circuit breakers are closed on electronic circuit breaker panel P7.
(4)
Provide airplane power. Refer to 24-22-00.
(5)
Provide equipment cooling. Refer to 21-58-00.
