Check that BAT lamp on each CDU illuminates for one 10-second period during coarse alignment (align mode number 8). (See figure 501.)

Check that each INS continues to align through align mode number 7 (course azimuth). After approximately 4 minutes, verify that alignment does not proceed to mode 6 automatically.
NOTE: In following procedures where latitude and longitude
____ are displayed, the displayed value may vary slightly (plus or minus 0.1) in the least significant digit from the inserted value. This is a normal condition.
(o) Insert correct present position data in each INS.
NOTE: Automatic alignment of INS cannot be completed until
____ this data is inserted separately into each INS through the individual control display units.
1) Place data selector to POS and press N2 or S8 key for north or south present position latitude. Check that 00.00.0 followed by correct letter (N or S) appears in left-hand data display.
2) Press numbered keys in sequence for present position latitude and observe that correct latitude appears in left-hand data display.
NOTE: Numbers shift to left in display as each additional
____ number is loaded. If incorrect data is displayed, press CLEAR key and repeat steps 1) and 2).
3) Press INSERT key and observe that INSERT key light remains illuminated.
4) Press W4 or E6 key for west or east present position longitude and observe that 000.00.0 followed by correct letter (W or E) appears in right-hand data display.
5) Press numbered keys in sequence for present position longitude and observe that correct longitude appears in right-hand data display.
NOTE: If incorrect data is displayed, press CLEAR key and

repeat steps 4) and 5).
6) Press INSERT key. Observe that INSERT key light extinguishes and that correct present position data within | 0.1 arc-minute is displayed in both left-hand and right-hand displays. If INSERT light does not go out, repeat steps 1) through 6).

Position data selector to DSRTK/STS and check that each INS continues to align through align mode number 6 (fine align). (See figure 501.)

Observe each control/display unit and check that when the align mode number is 5 (fig 501) the READY NAV light on associated mode selector unit illuminates.
(r) Insert waypoint/destination data. 1) Press REMOTE key on each control/display unit and observe that REMOTE keys illuminate. 2) Place data selectors to WAY PT and waypoint selectors to 1. 3) On any one control/display unit, perform following: a) Press N2 or S8 key for north or south first waypoint latitude. Observe that INSERT key illuminates and that 00.00.0 followed by correct letter (N or S) appears in left-hand data display.
b) Press numbered keys in sequence for first waypoint latitude and observe that correct latitude appears in left-hand data display.
NOTE: If incorrect data is displayed, press CLEAR
____ key, observe that INSERT key light goes out, and repeat steps a) and b).
c) Press INSERT key. Observe that INSERT key light extinguishes and that correct data (within 0.1 arc-minute) is still displayed in left-hand data display.
d) Press W4 or E6 key for west or east waypoint longitude. Observe that INSERT key illuminates and that 000.00.0 followed by correct letter (W or E) appears in right-hand data display.
e) Press numbered keys in sequence for first waypoint longitude and observe that correct longitude (within
0.1 arc-minute) appears in right-hand data display.
NOTE: If incorrect data is displayed, press CLEAR
____ key, observe that INSERT key light goes out, and repeat steps d) and e).
f) Press INSERT key. Observe that INSERT key light goes out and that correct data is still displayed in right-hand data display.
4) Check right- and left-hand data displays on other CDU's for an identical display (within tolerance) of data from step 3).
